Scott was 1-5 their last 6 games coming into this. Including their All A run, Brossart was 7-3 in their last 10 coming into tonight.

 

So I would say it's an upset, it doesn't come across as a huge upset to me. Mustangs did lose to Scott by 7 on January 11th.

 

Against Holmes, CovCath, Conner, Holy Cross, Simon Kenton and Highlands--Not a real disgrace for a rebuilding team???? Vailant effort by both teams, and one of those games where its a shame someone has to lose?? Good luck to the Eagles vs. Campbell Saturday night. Great job this season by Coach Carr & Company!!

 

Great season by the Mustangs!! Considering they had NO varsity experience coming in, to finish above .500, win the "A" region and get back to Richmond, and almost get back to the regionals is quite an accomplishment!!!! Hats off to the seniors, and as Striker said to the underclassmen--Remember how this feels, and work hard in the off season!! :thumb: :thumb:

I thought the Ref's called a good game both ways. The game was won and lost by the players in this one.

 

I thought they called too many fouls in the final minutes, and they were inconsistant with the charges called and over the backs... I don't think it hurt either team, because it was bad both ways... JMO.

Bishop Brossart started out in a zone to force the ball outside. Scott took an early 4-2 lead with 5 minutes to go in the first quarter. Brossart was patient on offense. The Mustangs took a 7-6 lead with 3:52 to go on a Joe Webb three pointer. Brossart would add 4 more to Scott’s 1 as the quarter ended, with the lead, 11-8

 

Daniel O’Conner hit a pull up jumper at the 6:20 mark that tied the game, just to see Mitch Patterson put Brossart back up three with a long range three pointer. Brossart switched back to man defense in the second. Nickola Gligurelec gave Scott the lead again with 1:20 to go on his 7 points in the quarter. The lead would last one possession only to see it go back to Brossart on a Justin Morscher three pointer. The quarter ended with a tight game indeed, 21-20

Drew Kramer added two more to up the Brossart lead to 3, 32-29 with 7:20 to go. Kramer scored again on a running layup increasing the Mustang lead to 6. Brossart went on a 9 point run that lasted until the 5:17 mark. Scott got back into the game with a 4 point run of their own. The Eagles drew within 1 point with 1:04 to go in the game. With 31.5 to go, E.J. Murray hit one of two free throws to tie the game. Nick Hiller was fouled with 14.3 to go, putting him on the line with the game tied at 43 for the double bonus. Hiller missed the them both. Coming back the other way, Gligorivich fouled Drew Kramer. Kramer made the first foul shot, but missed the second one. E.J. Murray came down the floor and pulled up from behind the arch and drained it at the buzzer, giving the Scott Eagles a 46-44 victory.

 

Scott will play the in the finals against the winner of the Calvary Christian/Campbell County game in the finals of the 37th district tournament.

I agree. I thought Bishop Brossart was peaking at the right time. But that is why the play the game. It's a whole new season now. Bishop Brossart has nothing to hang their heads about this season. Nice work guys.

Great win for the Eagles. Both teams played very hard and it's just a shame that one team had to lose. The one thing I was not impressed with however was the disrespect and immaturity by one of the Eagles coaches. I know it was not the Varsity Head Coach but I'm alsmost positive that it was the JV Head Coach. After the game concluded he ran down to the other end of the court past Brossart's bench and right in front of Brossart's student section. I was very disturbed to see that he started hollering right in the ear of one of the Brossart players and then started taunting the Brossart student section. I wasn't sure what he was hollering but I later confirmed that he was absolutely hollering out profanity towards the Mustangs fans. He then walked to the other end of the court by Scotts bench and started doing the same thing to the Brossart fans at that end of the floor. I know it was a very exciting moment and it is also very easy to just get caught up in the moment but to taunt another teams players and fans by screaming and hollering at them right in their faces is just unnecessary especially coming from a coach. Coaches are supposed to set a good example for the kids and this was in no way close to a good example. Once again I completely understand it is very exciting to win but act like you have been there before, (which they have the past 2 or 3 years) and go through and shake the opposing teams hands with class, then celebrate in the locker room. Just an over all horrible display of respect.

 

Once again Congrats to the Eagles and good luck Saturday and in the region. Represent the 37th District well but most of all do it with class.

I agree I saw nothing like that at all. Some people just can't deal with a loss. It was a good game both teams had chances to win. And your team didn't, deal with it!

I can't see Coach Carr alowing any of his staff to do that.

Scroll down past the recap. You can clearly see the video of the final shot. all the coches clear the bench to go to mid court witht the exception of one coach who DID NOT do anything said above. You can clearly see him shaking hands with all the brossart players and then turning around to join the celebration. If that incedent did happen. It wasn't a coach it was most likely a fan or the incident didn't occur.

If you watch the video link provided above you can see one of their coaches down by Brossarts bench right at the end of the video. 35 seconds into the video they move the camera to the far left and you see their coach in a black suit walking back toward his bench from Brossarts bench. It clearly happened because Brossart's Athletic Director has already contacted Scott's Athletic Director. I only wish that Brossart had won so this did not appear to be sour grapes, win or lose this would have been an issue. As to me not dealing with the loss, you may have misread my original post. I said "Once again Congrats to the Eagles and good luck Saturday and in the region."

 

However, CCHS Camel 1, it makes sense to me that you would make such a comment about dealing with a loss because with the sport that you play "YOU" have to deal with losing all the time.
