Article about Worry for Obama's Safety

I don't need a president with a human side. I need a smart leader who has the best interests of this country in mind and knows how to deal with and solve problems.

That's funny because I heard a lot of people say they voted for Bush (not you) because he seemed like a good person who was down to earth.

Not sure why they used that excuse, maybe because he wasn't qualified in any other ways.

I agree that is a much lower extent than 40 years ago. But it is still an issue.

It is very much lower than 40 years ago, but a huge issue in the south for Barack. There are still a lot of racist people around the south.

I don't think most "people" in America would not support is #1 issue. I do not think having our troops in Iraq for 40 to 100 years will be a good "pulling our nation together" issue. This is his main issue. I have heard him speak several times & his main focus is the war & then he'll essentially extend Bush's tax cuts. I don't think the nation will rally around any of GW's economic policies.

I know you don't but you are not an independant, and that is who is going to decide this election.

Actually that same argument was used with Clinton also. Don't dismiss the power of "likeability" if that is even a word. If it plays in this election that bodes well for Obama.

Assassinations and assassination attempts on presidents of this country have been carried out by deranged individuals. The moods of the country or their "messages" had nothing to do with assassinations of either Kennedy.

I've got to say that the JFK assassination was very much a person who simmered in a "mood" of his society and culture. Texas was a hotbed of discontent in the Democratic Party particularly concerning Civil Rights. Adli Stevenson was hit with a sign a few weeks before Kennedy's arrival. The "mood" was very much a part of the "act" by Oswald to kill Kennedy.

Most of those are going to Obama. In states where independents can vote in either election, more are choosing to vote for Obama over McCain. This may not happen in the general election but I would rather being trying to hold my votes than pull them from someone else. I have seen crazier things happen but McCain would have to go really negative & I just dont know how that would play out to those independents. Again, it will be interesting.

They are simply choosing the more interesting race. I myself may end up voting for Obama or Hillary if it's still interesting when it gets to KY. Don't read more into it than there is at this time. Polls released yesterday show McCain leading Obama by one and Hillary by 4. Don't read more into that either as the real battles will start as soon as the Democrats decide their candidate.

This is one Liberal who will be voting Republic.

I didn't want to make a new thread for this so I figured I would post it in an existing Obama thread.

Care if I ask why?

I'm not a huge Obama or Hillary fan...but then again I do not like McCain at all. Just curious why you like him more than Obama or Hillary.
