Greg Page Apts.

Has anyone lived or heard about the Greg Page apartments on the UK campus? Just curious since my son is looking into them.

If you live on campus stay away from Greg Page. Long walks, dirty living conditions. I'd stick to the dorms IMO.

My daughter lived in them last year and they weren't that bad. There is a bus that picks you up to take you to campus. You can also walk....she lost alot of weight doing that. In addition its next to the arboretum which is a really nice park to walk, . The apartments has a kitchen ,living room and two bedrooms. Each bedroom is set up as a dorm room with two twin beds, two desks and two chest a drawers and a big closet. My daughter lucked out because two roomates moved out at christmas so the two remaining each had a room to themselves. You can also pay extra if you want a room to yourself. The summer before she moved in the page the school had bought all new kitchen appliances, new furniture, painted, new bathroom....it was nice.

If you got the dough, I'd go for the new dorms before anything. They are amazing.

If you're going to live in Greg Page, you might as well move off campus. I personally wouldn't want to live there.

I still think of Greg Page Apartments as the "New Apartments."

They were "new" thirty years ago and I can't imagine them being very nice now since they weren't of the best construction way back then.

I lived there my second year at UK. That's been about 8 years now. The on campus apartments allowed for more independent living, which is why I was drawn to them. It also helped ease the transition to my first off-campus apartment. I would recommend them. They were no worse than the Blanding Tower dorm room that I had my freshman year.

JB, if you don't mind me asking, what's the rent/month for Greg Page?

I have known a few people that lived there, and reviews are mixed.

Personally, I would rather live down around main campus. There are no restaurants, campus dining, activities, anything that goes on at Greg Page. The only real advantage I can think of with GP is that you have better access to your car out there. If he really is thinking about Greg Page and not interested in the regular dorms, I would start looking into off campus apartments.

4,950 a year for a 2 person bedroom.

Thats not terrible if you are looking at 12 months, but if you look at it for what it really is, which is about 9 months, it is terrible. It comes to I believe about 550 a month for 9 months.

If he is a junior I believe he would like his own apartment. If he knows people he could live with it would definitely be cheaper on him that way, and you can find lots of 1 bedrooms and studio's for way cheaper than that.

Also, to give you an idea of what UK is seeing for Greg Page, I have heard rumors of them tearing it out or making it married housing.
