From what the weather people have said, an ice storm is on the way and will hit the state as the day goes on.

Looking up weather in Paducah, I guess it's snowing there now. That will just keep making its way east. I believe it's supposed to hit Maysville by 3 or so this afternoon and just get worse as the night goes on.

Ice here in Glasgow. WKU Glasgow campus classes are closed.. but Glasgow Independent and Barren County Schools are in session though. Apparently the ice didnt come quick enough for the School systems to close down.

Any other reports?

I just heard on the radio here in Campbellsville that schools will be letting out at 11:00 because of the winter storm. We are in south central Kentucky so it must be getting ready to get bad. :scared:

Bowling Green is a mess right now. I live about two and a half miles from work and it took me 25 minutes to make it in this morning. Roads are a solid sheet with a few areas starting to wear through the ice as traffic goes over them. Saw the aftermath of two wrecks on the way in.

My husband watched two women slide their cars into each other this morning on the way to work. Officials are asking people to stay off the roads in Hoptown. University Heights Academy is out of school and that rarely occurs. I went to put something in the herbie outside and slid on my driveway!:scared:

All classes cancelled for both day and evening sessions at U of L. I was sitting in the library at 10 a.m. when one of the librarians came around and told us to get out and go home...

she did not receive any complaints.

I'm 23 years old and all of a sudden I was back in fifth grade praying for no class... the more things change, the more they stay the same. Be safe everyone.

Not that I would ever do this but when I was in college someone told me that lunch trays from the cafeteria make GREAT sleds. In fact, our cafeteria in college would see a mark reduction in their inventory of sleds on the prediction of snow. After the snow was gone, amazingly, they would see an increase of their inventory of sleds.

Wouldn't one have to be rather small of stature to fit on a lunch tray?

When I was an undergrad at Dayton, my roomates and I discovered that our desk chairs (as they did not have separate legs but the connectors that ran from front to back) could be used provided the snow had already been packed down by sledders and turned more into ice. Of course, the hill we used ended at the right field wall of the baseball diamond, so it was necessary to jump off at the right moment.

I lived with two engineers and let me tell you... those guys find very creative ways to injure themselves.

According to Channel 12 here in NKY, they're calling for snow starting around 1 and then ice this evening. Has anyone heard different? I'm debating on just heading home at lunch, and working from home this afternoon as I don't want to deal with the mess.

Nope. Just your butt.
