My vote for the top 4 candidates for Mr Basketball would be like this:

 

1. Scotty Hopson

2. Darius Miller

3. Shelvin Mack

4. Tyshawn Edmonson

 

I dont agree with those of you that choose to believe that Miller's committment to UK will not effect the voting. If Hopson was verbally committed instead of Miller to UK with him being a Mcdonalds All American IMO it would not even be close. Hopson would be a lock

Hopson being named to the MCDonalds team helps his stock. Miller signing with UK helps his. Mack can raise his by making the state tourney and having a good tourney. I feel at this point, the player/players that makes state. and the one with the best showing will be named Mr. Basketball of these 3.

It's Miller's to lose IMO.

I think Miller and Mack have both had unbelievable years and both make plays on defense as well. Those 2 are the 2 top seniors IMO. Hopson has unlimited potential, but Miller or Mack deserve the award much more than Hopson does.

I'm going to be the bad guy I guess, but I dont really think Darius is the best basketball player in Kentucky. Sorry, I believe there is much to be said for a kid to grab national attention by making the All-American team. I just want a pair of the McDonalds shorts

The McDonalds team is more selected by what players do in the summer than anything. Usually Morgan Wooten will get some really hard working players on there to finish the team. The Rosario kid going to Rutgers is a prime example. But IMO Hopson's play this year has not been as good as Macks or Millers.

So Josh Carrier and Brandon Stockton were the best players in their class in KY? Signing with UK had nothing to do with it?

It depends on the criteria for Mr Basketball. Is it the best player now? The player with the most upside potential. The player who is most valuable to their team?

 

I have seen Miller, Mack, and Hopson play multiple times over the last 2 years.

 

It's close. But if I were voting today, I would give Mack my vote. Not only are his stats great, but he does some much else. Without him, Bryan Station would have lost 7-8 games this year. With him, they could win the state.

 

I think Miller and Hopson are both great and have the most upside potential. Earlier this season, I would have picked Miller over Hopson. But Scotty just keeps getting better and better each game. I think he could be in the NBA in 2-3 years. I think Miller is 4 years at UK.

 

In the end, I think Miller will win it. He gets more exposure and signing with UK will get him some votes. There is also some negativity about UHA out there, so that plays against Hopson winnning if it becomes a popularity contest.

 

Regardless of who wins, I am just ecstatic that KY has some much talent this year. And the Junior Class is looking good also.

v/s Elliott Co. the other night he dominated with Billy G watching

My vote goes to Hopson. Everyone dogs him for being lazy, but a lot of people seem to think Miller can get pretty lazy himself.....

I think the fact that Miller made the game winning shot at Lex. Cath. on TV helped out his cause.
