My point is.....they did not fire the coach to get someone to run a specific type of offense. There isn't 1 high school in KY that has mandated a type of offense or defense to their coach.

Its unfortunate that Coach Branham decided to leave, I really do hate that because I consider him to be a very good friend of mine. I can tell you that his leaving had nothing to do with any B.O.E member.

I will assure you I know more than anyone on this board about the politics of SOME of the Pike BOE members and the Super. I stand by my statement that ER would be better off with if their BOE member would worry more about educating kids than what jobs he can get for his buddies or what "deals" he can cut for so and so.............

Let's get back to discussing the thread topic and not other aspects.

There are so many people in the East Ridge community who would love to see things get on track there with the football program and from what I have seen they are patient enough to let things work out. IMO it will take at least three years out of the same coach to get things really headed in the right direction. Like said, the community, school, etc. will be behind the boys regardless if they win two games or eight, now the only thing to do is find someone who will be commited to growing a team rather than just trying to make a miracle turnaround in one season. There is plenty of young talent in that system, the facilities at East Ridge are nice, all they need is someone ready to get some tradition started and be able to do so for 3+ years without the fear of being pushed out.

Not really the case at all. They really want to be super competitive in every sport, they just haven't got everything together yet. Softball has always been very good since the school's foundation, finally making it to the state tournament after several near misses. The first few baseball teams were also pretty solid winning 20+ games, with Volleyball also with some slight success. However, a lot of emphasis is placed on basketball up there being two of the feeding high schools didn't have a football team, and only had minimal success ever if any on the diamond. Adding to that was a quick trip to Rupp in the school's second year. Looks good to say they are just a basketball school and only want that, when really they would love more than anything to have top caliber clubs in every sport girls and boys. The reality is that the athletes are there, it is more of just a case of getting a lot of pieces in order.

I agree, a school that large should have the support of all teams that participate in athletics and shouldn't have that much of a changeover in coaches. Football is a revenue sport and needs to have all administrators support so they can supply other teams with funding.

The biggest Achille's Heel of the ER program since it started has been two reoccuring themse that have overlapped each other:

 

1. The lack of a feeder system bringing kids from the grassroots level up for the ENTIRE school district.

 

2. The lack of a consistent system from the high school ranks filtering down.

 

ER has made great strides in getting their football teams together and kid's interested at a younger age, but when you bounce from one philosophy to another without any consistency, it pretty much is like starting from scratch every year.

 

The BEST POSIBLE THING that ER can hope to achieve out of this hiring is putting a coach in place willing to invest extra time and attention to the feeder schools and making sure that the proper coaches are in place.

 

Another critical step forward for ER will come from a strong weight trainign and conditioning program. The Warriors always have some big old "Country Strong" boys, but every year it seems that ER's teams are not very well conditioned and/or have the agility to compete with the top temas in the district for four quarters.
