Okay since Bellevue has beaten Villa and it looks like Villa will make the region..........why does "that" district need to be seeded but not the Villa district?

 

Personally, I think every district should be seeded because I think it is unfortunate when a district's two clearly best teams do not make it to the regional.

 

I understand your point, and the sarcasm, but it seems to me that what you really would like is not so much a moratorium on seeding (which would give your school a chance to make the regional when the draw works out like it has this year) but a chance to relocate your school to the 34th District where it would be in the hunt every year for a berth in the regional.

MC that would do justice as much as the way districts are drawn up anyway. Remember the good old days when you had the maps of NCC and Holmes together and Highlands Scott and Brossart together................Any state that does not have Bourbon Co. and Paris in the same district...................Dixie and Covcath not in the same district.....oh I forgot Holmes and CovCath are so much closer than the 3 Dixie Highway schools

 

My guess is that Ludlow is much closer than Dixie to CovCath if you want to use distance from one school to another.

33rd- Boone, St Henry

34th- Dixie, Villa Madonna

35th- Holmes, Covcath

36th- Highlands, Bellevue

 

Now if that happens, with the first team listed being the winners, I'd look for the following matchups:

 

Upper Bracket

Holmes v Bellevue

Dixie v St Henry

 

Lower Bracker

Boone v Covcath

Highlands v Villa Madonna

TOG my point is despite what the state says they still do not really have good districts.Word Filter Violation The old system was worse where you had Highlands and Scott together but still not what is in the best interest of all students.

I can appreciate that, but I am afraid I will have to just agree to disagree on this one. I have always thought that one of the things that makes Kentucky High School basketball special is the lack of classification, a single statewide tournament and a single champion (notwithstanding the All A tournament in mid-season). It is still possible for a small school to put together a competitive basketball team, and those success stories are what movies are made of.

 

So good luck to Dayton and Bellevue, and sorry about your luck NCC or Highlands. And maybe I will look completely foolish when Bellevue wins the district.

They need to even out the schools in each district, such as having a 6A, a 5A, 2A, and 1A school in each one. And throw in the other schools to each discrict, and have a seeding instead of a draw.

I'm willing to predict the 33rd will not play out like it is expected to.

I personally think if Highlands, Holmes, Boone, and Dixie win their districts, it will probably be Holmes and Highlands in the upper bracket and Boone and Dixie in the lower.

 

Either way nobody is really wanting to see a healthy CCH or Highlands in the first round.

I would not count Lloyd out of the 34th as of yet. They have been playing some good basketball lately. Don't think they could win the tourney however, they could make the 9th Region. JD

Bellevue can only hope they avoid CovCath/Holmes and possibly get a ST. Henry or Dixie. Heck, Dayton might be wearing the Cinderella slipper for that matter.

You can only wear the Cinderella slipper after beating someone. Not by lucking out in a blind draw. If one of these teams either wins the district or wins a regional game I will gladly anoint them a giant killing, Cinderella story. If they don't well lets just call them lucky.
