Some fans yell the dumbest things

I also lost an argument with another about traveling while inbounding the ball. I was told that after a turnover, the player inbounding could not move an established pivot foot while inbounding. I also witnessed a 3 sec lane violation called on an under the basket inbounds play. All 9th region officials:irked:

Sounds like these guys might want to open their rules book. They get a new one every year when they register.

How can we throw stones at fans for not knowing the rules if the officials dont know them either?

Surprised to ever see you type this phrase

Just means he went to so many hours of training and obviously paid no attention

Does everyone realize how boring a game it would be if the rules were strictly applied. Ticky tack fouls and the 6' rule are seldom enforced anywhere at any level, three seconds is seldom called. Let the game evolve.

I've seen them evolve into brawls.

No one wants a physical out of control game but you don't want the opposite either. I like the AAU style of game ref'ing which seems to be where High School is tending towards. Let them play but don't let them be dirty.

I agree with this statement whole heartedly. The officials of any high school sport are not "amateur" as they are taking money and not donating their time.

I understand it's difficult to attract new refs and people like to blame the fans, However, in Louisville area, it has more to do with the assigments or lack of assignments.

I usually leave baseball umps alone. They can change their strike zones way to easily and I am usually very close to the playing field. Basketball officials may get a little grief from me if I am up in the stands on not on the floor. Football officials, since I am farther away, may hear my wrath if I see something that really aggravates me. They must know the rule book inside and out.

I do think the better officials should be paid more money in the regular season and post season. The coaches and the ADs should rank them every season.

Now wouldn't this create a conflict if coaches could pay certain refs more based on their game performances. Keep it like it is.
