Mike Bibby to the Atlanta Hawks

I don't know enough about the players Atlanta gave up, but when I hear 4 players and a draft pick for Bibby, it just sounds like too much to me. Especially when you consider Bibby might not stick around.

BUT if you have taken the time to watch Atlanta night in and night out, I will give you the benefit of the doubt. :thumb:

2 of the four players hardly see the court (IN ATLANTA), AJ is serviceable for a reserve player and Sheldon Williams is a bust for a 5th pick overall if you can call a 2nd year player a bust already. I truly am a Hawks fan that likes this deal. I'm not crazy and think that this makes them a contender as they are far from it, but it does solidify their spot in the playoffs in a weak Eastern Conference.

Their starting lineup will probably be Bibby, Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Josh Smith and Al Horford. Not bad.

If you don't know enought about the players then why did you comment about how bad of a trade it is?

they are basically on giving up one good player in Williams but have Horford that plays the same position and has a better upside.

I think this is a good deal for the hawks. They lack a good PG and got one in Bibby.

Well, 3 reasons.

#1. Atlanta has a history of doing stupid things, drafting, free agent signings, etc, etc.

B. I don't see Bibby as the end all, be all or someone worth that much.

5. I'm just not very smart half of the time.

There, happy? :p

1. Your right about that. Drafting Horford when they already had Williams was a big question as well.

B. He is better than what they have now

5. Most of us are like that. LOL

I went to a Hawks game in Atlanta and Sheldon Williams had like 18 points and 23 rebounds or something. He is a good fit down low for any team.

That was about the only time that has happened. Shelden barely deserves to be on any fantasy team if that tells you how much he has accomplished. His best trait is he looks like he does and still dates Candace Parker.:sssh:

I dont know where you got they gave up a draft pick HC, but I havent seen that anywhere. Those four players to get Bibby into the weak East is a great trade for the Hawks, even if it is for only this season and next season. It gives them more outside shooting, which they struggle with, and it gives them a great ball handler to possibly mentor Acie Law before Bibby leaves town. The only thing the Kings gain is Williams to be possibly serviceable to them and the other 3 create cap space at year end. I dont see how anyone could not see this is a great move for the Hawks.

OK. I was thrown off because either the Hollinger or Stein article I read on ESPN.com said they didnt even have to give up a draft pick in the article.

A 2nd round pick in the middle of the draft is not much anyway.

Someone pointed it out and I failed to mention that Atlanta is one of the worst teams in the league at three pointers made and this will certainly help the cause.

ATL is a terrible sports town. Heck, the Braves can't even sell out playoff games. So how much support can the Hawks expect?

I actually took in a Hawks game, this year. Was sitting a few rows behind Seattle's bench, when Durant threw in that 30 footer for the win.

Nice place with a decent crowd.

Still a poor professional sports town.

Bibby must be thrilled to go from one of the least significant and recognizable teams to one that is even lower on the scale. He's lucky Vancouver doesn't have a team anymore.

He's already been there and done that.

I can't see Bibby playing in Atlanta that long. If that's the case, Atlanta pays a high price for essentially a rental.

BUT the East is wide open after Boston, so why not go for it if you have the chance. Goodness knows Atlanta hasn't been a factor since the first Nintendo came out.

You mean after the Pistons because they are the best team in the East right now.

Why? Hatred for Bibby or simply getting his contract off the book. You can't be thrilled with who they got in return.

Sacramento has done well this season without him. They are going to begin rebuilding soon (they are doing some of it now, but this trade proves it) Udrich was a very good replacement for Bibby and his contract. This trade also gave them Lue, who has been known for his defense in the past. Williams has been a bust so far, but maybe a change of scenery will help him. Heaven knows, it has helped others in the past.

Also, the Kings pick up Lorenzen Wright who is a good interior defensive player. The Kings have needed this for years. What this trade also does is give them LOTS of room to sign free-agents. I think all 4 players contracts COMBINED were less than Brad Miller and Mike Bibby's contracts COMBINED! (I could be wrong though)

Look for Sacramento to make a HUGE offseason pick-up, you know the brothers are not afraid to make a splash because they don't care to get wet.

Being a Chicago fan, I will never give the Pistons any credit. No matter how good they might be.

Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, Orlando and looking at the standings I see that Toronto is 5 games over .500 at this point.

After that it's a mad dash to see who can get to 41 wins first.

I think its pretty obvious the contracts of the traded players are less than those of Bibby and Miller's contracts since the reason these players were involved were to make the money match in the trade since the Kings are over the cap.
