Doesn't really sound like any one is worth it. They blew it last year, should be interesting to see what they come up with this year.

Smith I say again.

Let him go to the Steelers. He's not disciplined enough to play in a 3-4.

The only time I want to see him in Pittsburgh is as a member of the visiting team.

If tagged, Smith will be paid $10+, Andrews $7.5, and Williams $4.4.

I don't think they will tag Smith, but I wish they would keep him. I love the way the guy plays. Granted his sacks are down, but its not from lack of effort or talent.

If we could keep him for a decent price I would like it. However he is definitely not worth the money we would have to spend on him. I know I love how hard he plays. But our biggest problem is rushing the passer and he is not consistently good at that. And he does make a lot of tackles against the run, but they are usually 6 to 7 yards down field. I mean that great that he hustles to go tackle the guy from behind, but its better if we stop them around the line. So if we can keep him for a decent price then I would love to have him back, because he definitely is all heart, but thats about it.

You don't think, just maybe, the defensive scheme had anything to do with all this? Defensive linemaen aren't supposed to make as many tackles as JS does?

If he doesn't get sacks, and only make some tackles, most of which are 5 yards downfield, (Which you say he shouldn't be doing), then just what is he supposed to be doing?

He's an end in a 4-3 scheme. He's suppose to get to the QB and make plays in the backfield. You can't seriously think their scheme involves ends making tackles 5 and 10 yards downfield.

I agree that he should be getting more sacks. I wasn't saying the scheme called for him to make tackles downfield. I guess my post came out wrong. I hate the fact that a defensive lineman (Smith) has to make so many tackles downfield. The Bengals IMO need a better linebacking core, which I know about all the injuries last season, to make those plays that Smith has been making. With a new DC maybe we'll see improvement.
