Biggs is a class guy and a very good coach. He cannot control the talent level which is down because of decisions made long before he arrived.

I thought Coach Biggs did what he could in the game as far as trying different things. He tried to press and play quick and that didn't work. He tried to zone for a while and that didn't work either. I give him credit for trying to mix it up, but Rose Hill just had the answer for every thing he threw at them. Not much a coach can do in that situation.

Fact is: Royals spanked the Tomcats. It was good to see Rose hill finally just put a team away, also a plus that is was Ashland. Great game by the Royals.

With RH JV spanking Ashland JV squad last night it's not going to improve any time soon. The young kids at RH are just so good.

As far as the Royals are concerned, there's still a lot of work ahead, but it appears that Coach Fraley's insane schedule may be paying dividends when it counts.

This is a tough time for Ashland. This wasn't really supposed to be a big year but they got off to such a nice start to the season that perhaps expectations become a bit unreasonable. I wonder how much the loss of Rowe hurt this team mentally. He seemed to be on his way to becoming a solid inside player, his loss has made Ashland really thin on the inside. Also, the loss of your own basketball court had to be a real downer. I still think this can be a dangerous team. You know what happens when a Cat gets backed into a corner. Nonetheless, another nice win for an improving Rose Hill team. The coaching staff has done a nice job getting a lot of players involved. Confidence is everything heading down the stretch. Rose Hill has it and I hope Ashland gets theirs back. Good luck to all!

 

One other thing, I have really enjoyed watching Matt Thomas for several years now. He plays hard and with nothing but class. Most good young players eventually become a bit cocky and arrogant by the time they are seniors. Not Matt, pure class all the way.

I couldn't agree more about Matt Thomas I wish he could have had a better senior year in both sports he certainly is deserving. But there is still plenty of time left and it's too early to start shoveling dirt on Ashland's grave just yet.

 

Know one will ever know how much Rowe's departure hurt this team. Ashland's problems have been rebounding and shooting he would have helped them from a rebounding stand point but I'm not sure about shooting.

 

Trying to be as objective as possible Ashland doesn't match up well with Rose Hill and that more than anything is the reason for the two lopsided scores this year. On the other hand Fairview matches up well with Rose Hill and both games have been respectable at the very least.

Who was missing? Also remember that Gambill for Rose Hill missed the first game due to an ankle injury.

Congratulations. That is definitely something Ashland can hang their hat on for this season, and is definitely a confidence booster heading into next year.

You know...in all my 30+ years of life....I don't think I can ever remember a regional tournament without an Ashland Blazer team. I'm sure it has happened, and it looks like it may happen again.

 

Biggs probably is a good coach. I (personally) think he is too negative toward his players though. I have heard him say some pretty low things to some of them. That may be part of the resaon that they are not being motivated.

 

Again, probably a class act, I am just saying what I witnessed from the stands...usually that angle distorts the truth
