At the Spencer County Power Meet today: Tim Phillips of Trinity won the Most Outstanding Lifter Award for all weight classes up to 175 lbs while Dalton Cissell of North Bullitt won the Most Outstanding Lifter for all weight classes 185 lbs and up. Cissell also won the top bench award with a lift of 340 lbs.

Congrats to both lifters! FYI! Timmy benched 330 at school last week. For a 156 lb. kid that is amazing!!! Who won the Powerlifting Meet and who came in 2nd and 3rd. Thanks!

Bench 330lbs @ 156 is amazing, I would say that he runs over more players than people would think @ 156.

Trinity won the meet, with Madisonville 2nd and North Bulitt placing 3rd. I think about 12 teams were represented.

Trinity's weight room effort has been a huge cog in this unparalleled run of success. Congrats to Coach Maddox and the kids who bust their tails from January to the first weekend of December every year! It really has paid off late in playoff games.

That's not "amazing".....I can't think of the word that describes it but "amazing" doesn't do it justice. Congrats to Tim, I'm thinking he's looking more and more like a D1 prospect.

And to think there are people out there who still don't believe Tim is a D1 prospect! Shame on them. He will go down as one of the best running backs in the history of Kentucky football, during a time when his school is known more for its ability to throw the football. He is the leading candidate for Mr. Football, Player of the Year, etc. and deserves everything he gets. I can't wait for the 2008 season to watch him run wild.

I agree! But I think Duece at X will probably get more pup than Tim for Player of the year because of his size. IMHO, I think Tim is a more versatile back because he can avoid defenders with his laterial movement and has proven he can catch the ball. Also, his size makes him hard to find (310 all-purpose yards in the State Champioship against the best defense in the State). Don't get me wrong, Duece is a fantastic back! But I'm glad to have Tim in our backfield. It will be a fun race to debate in the upcoming season.

But he plays for a team in Kentucky so it dosn't matter.

Both kids were impressive especially the Cissell kid, the Riggs kid from Spencer Co. also caught my eye. The meet consisted of Dead Lift, and Bench, and there was a pretty good turn out for the lift, on bad part was some kids took the ACT and that held things up a bit at the end.

Yes, Riggs is a good kid and can throw some weight around for sure.
