Les Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 The Redskins are a bit overrated and the Bobcats are a bit underrated.
Region13 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Impressive win..where was this game held at?
wideopen Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 The skins can beat any team in the region, but they have not played good since the first game of the wymt classic.
bellalumni40 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Impressive win..where was this game held at? Should have been at Bell I believe. Nice win for the Bobcats after they got beat pretty good the first game. That was the game that Zachery was tossed, but that is another story.
dawg79 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I'm pretty sure 1 of the skins' big men didn't play. I'm sure that impacted the game some.
Old School Dr. Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Garfield Wilson did not play due to an injured toe, and I can not believe that no one has commented on the unbelievably controversial play that that ended this game. With 1.0 seconds on the clock in overtime and the score tied, Cumberland had the ball out of bounds on Bell County's end of the floor. The Cumberland kid throwing it in bounds tried to throw a long pass and it got DEFLECTED upward in the air, then the Bell kid CAUGHT it and then TOOK a DRIBBLE and A STEP or TWO and made a basket and one of the REFERRE's called it good and then all 3 of the REFS sprinted into the Bell County locker room area. There is absolutely no way possible that all of that could have occurred within 1.0 seconds.

The clock should have started as soon as it was touched, no way to get a shot off under the scenario you described.
Old School Dr. Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 The clock should have started as soon as it was touched, no way to get a shot off under the scenario you described. You are absolutely correct and that is absolutely what happened. Go to (harlandaily.com) and read the story on it. Call and ask anyone that was at the game, they will tell you the same. The same ref that called that bucket good also called Cumberland's point guard for his 3rd foul early in the 3rd quarter on a play away from the ball, as he made a cut through the lane his progress was impeded by contact and somehow an offensive foul was called, then while he sat Cumberland had 8 of their 14 turnovers and let Bell back in a game they had control of.
dawg79 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 It is a shame that referees don't let the players decide the outcome of a game. Referees are usually old codgers that never really had a chance to do anything during their playing days and this is their way of playing in a game!!! Not all are this way but most of them are!!
LRCW Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Did the time expire and the horn sound before he got the shot off, or was the time keeper slow at starting the clock?
manimal_tops Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Not the only controversial ending that occurred in the region this year or that particular night actually. Like I said about the Pineville-Corbin game, these controversial calls will benefit the losing team come tourney time if they use it as firing power and play with a chip on their shoulder. Pineville and Cumberland both will be just fine when district and region rolls around.

I agree with you and it will also be a little more legitimate when the officials from another region are calling the games. There is so much room for personal bias after referrreing in a region for a few years and developing relationships with certain coaches and administrators, it is just plain and simple AWFUL. NO ACCOUNTABILITY for ridiculous officiating
Old School Dr. Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Did the time expire and the horn sound before he got the shot off, or was the time keeper slow at starting the clock? The clock keeper was slow starting the clock and the horn DID sound clearly before the shot got off!!! Anyone that was at the game regardless of who they were pulling for knows it was an absolutely horrible call
