Paris 26 Trimble County 22

Featured Replies

In a game that tied the All "A" CLassic for the lowest scoring game, Paris escapes with a 26-22 win over the Trimble County Raiders.

Turnovers are what did the Lady Raiders in. 25 to 5 for Paris. Credit Paris' man defense. They did not allow much work into Miller after the first quarter. They double teamed Ashleigh and took her out of the game.

Paris scored 10 points off those 25 turnovers. That is your ball game.

Trimble County only shot 3 free throws the whole game.

Trimble's defense did well also, holding Paris to 26 points.

I'll have complete stats in a minute.

Trimble got the opening tip and started out in a zone defense. Ashleigh Miller was a force inside scoring the first 4 Lady Raider points and six overall in the quarter. Trimble County led after the first 10-7.

Turnovers led to points for Paris as they took the lead with 2:47 to go in the half, outscoring the Lady Raiders 6-2 in the second quarter. The Lady Raiders committed 12 turnovers in the first half. Trimble County did lead the half in shooting percentage 42.9 to 15.4.

Trimble maintained the zone in the second half and held Paris to 2 points in the first 4 minutes of the quarter. Trimble re-took the lead at the 2:45 mark on a basket by Ashleigh Miller, 17-15 but a couple of quick buckets with less than a minute to go gave Paris the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter, 19-17.

Trimble came out of a time out with a little over a minute to go in a man defense for the first time tonight. Turnovers killed the Lady Raiders chances to blow the game open. The Lady Raiders committed 25 turnovers to just 4 for Paris. That was the ball game. The final tonight 26-22, Paris.

Paris will play Middlesboro on Friday afternoon.

Trimble County goes to 5-13 on the season and will next face Owen County.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that Trimble's defense held Paris to just 26 points ... remember, Paris only had 5 turnovers. I would have to say that Paris themselves is the reason they only scored 26 points. Paris went 10-of-52 from the field and 1-of-16 from behind the three-point line and a lot of those shots were open looks, they just couldn't throw it in the ocean. Thank goodness Paris' specialty (DEFENSE) came into play tonight! :thumb:

Congrats to Coach Brooks and the Lady Hounds!!!

Congrats to Paris.

Good run Lady Raiders!

The kind of game Paris likes...low scoring!

Congrats to the LadyHounds! Good luck Friday! A win is a win!

Congrats to Paris! It sounds like, even though it was a low scoring game, that it would have been a good one to watch.

Very ugly game for Paris. Hopefully they got this one out of their system and will play like they are capable of playing on Friday... they will need a much better game than this against a good Middlesboro team.

Winning ugly is better than losing.

Good effort, Lady Raiders.

I would take a UGLY win any day over a pretty loss--even if there is such a thing!

Come on...give credit where it was due. Trimble's defense included several blocked and altered shots. Defense is NOT just about creating turnovers.

Great job Lady Raiders. You played hard and with heart.

Did you see the game? Paris shot 10/52 from the field. When a Paris player shoots a wide open jump shot and misses, you can't credit the other team with playing good defense. If Paris knocks down just 5 of those WIDE OPEN shots, the game is not even close. Trimble County's (Miller) did block a few shots but that was expected considering that she is 6'3" or taller. You are right, defense is NOT just about creating turnovers but if you saw the same game that I saw, you would know that Paris got every shot that they wanted fairly easy.
