The difference is that Islam was born in violence. Christianity wasn't. I'm not excusing the past history of misled or posser "Christians".

You do realize that, like Christianity, Islam is a religion with many different branches and interpretations? You just clumped together all Muslims with the above statements. There are many devout practitioners of Islam that are not hate America or supporters of jihad. They just don't garnish the press the others do.

I'd say you could remove extreme from that sentence. An Islamic fundamentalist takes everything in the Koran literally, right? If that's the case and they truly believe it's the word of god and they're totally devoted, then they have no choice but to be violent. The Koran commands it. I have to agree with HHSDad on this one.

I consider myself to a very strong Republican and pretty conservative. But I will not accept that no Democrat can be a conservative or cannot have similar views as me. I've voted for Democrats before that were as conservative or similar in my beliefs as the Republican. I refused to go on my County's Republican Exec Committee because I wanted the ability to vote and publicly support Democrats that I felt were worthy and some people felt I shouldn't do that and be on the Executive Committee. I said fine but no thanks. I've gotten into many spirited debates in my dining room with Republican leaders in the state who were trying to get a Republican to run against an incumbent Democrat that was doing a good job. I thought that was stupid and told them so in my rather blunt manner. So if you mean strict Democrat or Republican to be someone who will never consider the quality and positions of someone other than their party, but rather will only vote for a member of their party, yes I disagree with that line of thinking entirely. Perhaps it was fine 100 years ago when people were a lot less educated and didn't have the access to candidates' positions and voting records. But there is no excuse for it today in my opinion.

No...I didn't think W casued the attacks. Frankly, the situation has been brewing for decades....I don't blame the attacks on W, I blame the attacks on America, and a host of attitudes, actions and proclivities that have incited the hatred toward us.

I honestly didn't know what to think. But I don't give credit to "W" for anything other than getting us into a Middle Eastern Quagmire of gargantuan, epic proportions, enormous debt and increased danger for our allies on their soil.

It was not my intention to lump all together. However, I do believe that there are enough extreme fundamentalists around to be cause for great concern. I stand by my statement that Islam is NOT a peaceful religion.

Those actions that instill hatred towards us are the same actions that have given us our place of dominace in the world. No one on top is not hated. We are the haves, we will be hated by the have nots.

Check with our soldiers. I just spent a week in Paris Island. There was not one soldier that had a negative thing to say about the wars we are fighting. However, some did have negative things to say about the army.

The World Trade Center bombing was done weeks into Bill Clinton's first term ... 9/11 came more than eight years later. Yet Clinton never gets any credit for capturing and convicting the perpetrators and the fact that there wasn't another attack for the rest of his two terms.

 

When we go eight-plus years without an attack after 9/11, I'll give Bush similar credit.

 

Correct. Mostly due to the fact that the perpetrators that he failed to eliminate were sucessful in their second attack.

You blame the attacks on the 9/11 on America? Any of us in particular or all of us, because I am pretty sure that I have never done anything to upset any of the peace loving Muslim extremist that attacked our country on that day.

 

And while RM you may choose not to give the President any credit for no new attacks on our country, from reading many of your post on here I feel he would be the first person that you would blame if another attack occurred. Tell me that you would not be all over the President if there was another attack saying that he failed in doing something to prevent it. If that is true then conversely you must give the current administration credit for no new attacks.

 

I do not think the reason that we have not been attacked is due to them suddenly having a change of heart, do any of you. While I do agree an attack could happen at any time as of now it has not and I am thankful.
