Fort Campbell's coach is Amy Gammons. From all accounts, she's done a good job there.

I think it would take a special kind of woman coach to be able to relate well and command respect from teenage boys. I would guess she would need to be a fairly tough, disciplined coach to succeed.

We had a debate about this in one of my philosophy classes some time ago, and I don't think there was a male in the class that said they could see a woman coaching a high school boy's team. I agree with wildcatfan, it would take a special woman and hopefully the coach mentioned above is doing a great job.

Well if a man can coach a girls team why not a woman a boys team!:thumb:

Not sure but you definitely see a whole bunch more men coaching girls teams than vice versa! I have coached both boys and young girls sports teams, and I had to use "kid gloves" more often with the girls.

I could see Boone County ladies basketball coach Nell Fookes being able to coach a boys varsity team.

If the guys who played for her were smart enough to let her.

Given a chance she would earn their respect and they would thrive playing for her.

Nell is one of the few women that I know that could get the job done with guys. NKU womens' coach Nancy Winstel would certainly put them in a position to win, and I think that Melissa Slone could get it done.

A woman coached the Conner boys baseball team not that long ago, with a fair degree of success.
