Need advice on new Driver purchase

Keep in mind that since there are no specific standards for shaft flex, a Stiff flex from Company A might be considered a XStiff from Company B or Company A's S might be a R for Company B.........

I would go with the Big Bertha Steelheads by Callaway. I have a set of Callaways in my garage and that drive is a monster.

It's not really that much of a difference at this point in the game. Everybody has most of the same technology, so they will be pretty close. The difference you may have come across is the weight.

Tiger cracked his driver in the practice round last week and had to use a backup. He said he uses a head that has a little thicker face. Club head speed makes it goo ! I couldn't crack mine with a hammer , but I like to try different shaft - head- combinations . Ever now and then you may find one that you can get another 5 or 10 yd.s out of. The shaft has a ton to do with how you hit it, so a particular brand may work for you, and be a dog for someone else.

I have the Burner, bought it new on EBay for 200 New, completely satisfied, alot of ebay "companies" have guarantee's.

I disagree......It can be a HUGE difference. Every company may have the same technology but there is no one standard for labeling shaft flex. It can and does vary greatly from company to company.....You may want to read a book by Tom Wishon called "The Search for the Perfect Golf Club". Its a great read if you are interested in how a golf club truly works.......

You are telling me how a golf club works?

I'll stick with what I know about shafts and all the personal experience I have with how different shafts are now.

No I wasnt telling you how a golf club works.........I offered you a suggestion on interesting reading material. Its obvious to me from your earlier comments you could use some enlightenment on the subject but it no skin off my nose if you want to believe everything the big club makers tell you on TV.

I dont pay attention to what I'm told on TV. My knowledge comes from reading and my personal experience. Enlighten me. I'm dying to know what you could give me that I dont already know.

Obviously nothing.....

Callaway FTi, 10 degree, draw bias. My golf buddy has one and lets me hit it. WOW! I'm a slicer and fair golfer. This club had me hitting it straighter...and thus longer, than ever before. You MUST slow your swing down, but the results are fabulous! It's a "square" head. We call it the "ham sandwich"...bite off all you can chew!! Pricey new ($4-500) not so much used...if you can find one! Ebay best bet for deals!

My experience with golf clubs is wait till the thrill and newness wears off, usually 2 years, and buy it at about 20% of the original cost.

I bought the r7 a few weeks ago, took it to the driving range yesterday for the first time and it felt good.

I totally agree...unless you can "steal" one on Ebay! My game isn't good enough to warrant "full price"!
