January 24, 200818 yr Louisville's remaining schedule is: vs. St. John's @ UConn vs. Rutgers @ Marquette vs. Georgetown @ Depaul @ Providence vs. Syracuse @ Pitt vs. Notre Dame vs. Villanova @ Georgetown What games do you think they will win/lose? What about possible seedings in conference and NCAA tourneys?
January 24, 200818 yr Author I see UofL going 9-3 in that stretch....Wins coming against SJU, UConn, RU, Marquette, Depaul, Cuse, Pitt, Nova, and GU. Losses coming to Georgetown (once), Providence, and Notre Dame. I believe we'll beat Marquette again, as long as we play the way we did against them the first time. Suffocating defense, keep James from having a big night, and keep Barro from killing you on the glass. I also believe that we'll get Georgetown once. Roy Hibbert is a BEAST inside, and we'll have to stop him. But between DC, Padgett, Palacios, and Clark, I think we can wear him down/get him in foul trouble. The defense of Hibbert and excellent guard play will be the key to that game. IF that scenario were to play out, UL would more than likely get a bye on the first day at MSG, and depending on their play, I see them getting no lower than a 7-9 seed in the NCAA. Unless of course, they were to win the BE Tournament.
January 28, 200818 yr Author Louisville defeated SJU by 10 Saturday afternoon, improving to 15-5 and 5-2 on the year...Monday night at UConn is big.
January 28, 200818 yr Louisville defeated SJU by 10 Saturday afternoon, improving to 15-5 and 5-2 on the year...Monday night at UConn is big. Dosn't U Con have some players out for tonights game? If so that should help U of L chances of a win. I hope they win....will be watching the game.
January 28, 200818 yr Here is a link to the story of the suspended players for U Con. UConn was without both players when it upset Indiana (No. 8 ESPN/USA Today, No. 7 AP) on Saturday. The two players will remain suspended for Monday night's home game against Louisville. Here is a link to the story..... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3215071
January 28, 200818 yr I say 4 losses but I could definitely see it being less. Pitino's teams always have a way of turning it up down the home stretch.
January 28, 200818 yr They have the ablilty to win every game, but this team could find a way to lose the rest also.
February 7, 200818 yr Author vs. St. John's (W) @ UConn (L) vs. Rutgers (W) @ Marquette (W) vs. Georgetown @ Depaul @ Providence vs. Syracuse @ Pitt vs. Notre Dame vs. Villanova @ Georgetown Cards have improved to 17-6 and 7-3 in the conference. Got a big game coming up Saturday night that could do lot's to help boost their RPI. After that they have four very winnable games in a row IMO. As long as they don't slip up, looks like they'll have a bye the first day in NYC.

February 11, 200818 yr Let's look at this again... Louisville: 18-6 (8-3), Real Time RPI 17 & SOS 10 @ Depaul: 10-13 (5-6), RPI 135, SOS 33.................W ---No gimmies in the BEAST when teams are fighting for a berth at MSG, but Louisville should win in Chicago. I think the poll snub helps Rick keep them focused. @ Providence: 13-10 (4-7), RPI 82, SOS 44.................W ---The Friars have lost 5 of their last 6 and play @Pitt the game before. vs. Syracuse: 16-8 (6-5), RPI 45, SOS 9.................W ---Syracuse is good on the road, even if they are inconsistent. But the Cards get them on two days rest after rival goliath Georgetown. @ Pitt: 18-5 (6-4), RPI 15, SOS 36.................W ---I went back and forth here. Logic says that they're still too tough an out at home, but... I'm going with my gut. I reserve the right to revist this one based on their next three games (vs Prov, @ Marq, @ ND). vs. Notre Dame: 18-4 (8-2), RPI 27, SOS 81.................W ---So, so glad Louisville doesn't go to South Bend. vs. Villanova: 14-8 (4-6), RPI 67, SOS 67.................W ---Villanova won't even be in the race for MSG at this point. @ Georgetown: 19-3 (9-2), RPI 8, SOS 49.................L They're going to save that one up.
February 11, 200818 yr Which would put Louisville at 24-7 (14-4), certainly strong enough for a bye in the Big East tournament. My guess is they would finish third behind Georgetown and Connecticut (Connecticut just has to stay focused the rest of the way, their remaining schedule is pretty light outside of a visit from the Irish, who have a total two road wins on the season.)
