I think it will all come out sooner or later, it looks like people jumped the gun from everything that has come in so far. HOWEVER

 

Supposedly when Jack Nicholson was told of Heath's death, Jack was told incorrectly that it was a drug overdose. When Jack heard the news he said the following:

 

"I tried to warn him."

 

But he didn't go into any other details, SO my guess is that Heath dabbled in drugs here and there and how serious it may have been we might find out.

Very tragic, this has bothered me all day as it did others. It's going to be a little eerie watching this movie with him, especially with the type of role he is playing. I wonder if they'll continue to use him in the advertising... his role in this movie has been talked about and been worked up for quite some time now. I bet the box office sales go through the roof.

 

 

 

I agree. I will be watching this movie to see him in it. It's really going to be weird, but I think that the movie will be a huge success...but it's sad that it's going to be a success because of someone's tragic death.

If the media jumped to any conclusion w/re drug use/abuse, it was because the NYPD did it for them. I know I'm not imagining that early versions of the story as it broke quoted police as saying he was found with pills strewn all about him.

I believe he has a history of drug addiction. But, I can't remember anything in recent history.

It's always a horrible thing when a young person (male or female) is cut down in the prime of their lives. This young man had a young child and a promising future ahead of him. Whatever the cause of death . . . it's a shame!

I read were he went to rehab during the filming of 'The Dark Knight' for Heroin use I believe.

Something I didn't want to really post on here, but I figured I might as well share the story. Let me preface this by saying it's pure speculation.

 

I worked on The Patriot back in 1999. I worked in the extras casting office and I got the job through my aunt. My aunt lived in Rock Hill, South Carolina where they filmed 3 months. She was hired by the extras casting coordinator to clean several apartments/condos for some of the crew.

 

One of them happened to be Heath Ledger's place, she has said that she saw money and possible drugs in the apartment at one time. While it may have been nothing, may have just been marijuana, it was troubling to see someone who was just 19-20 at the time possibly wrapped up in that.

 

I met Heath and Mel very briefly when I visited the set and they came across very, very personable and nice.

I just heard the Jack interview and he says something like "i tried to warn him..... and others about sleeping pills, i used to take them and almost drove off a cliff, they are very dangerous"
