C-TOWN #12
The 8th graders are better. It's that simple. 8th/Freshman/Sophomore/Juinor/Senior/ it doesn't matter! They are a team. They win and lose as a team. Not one of them can win a game by themselves!!!!

Time and Score
I guess the question each player has to ask - Is playing time more important than winning? I would think that winning 6 in a row would keep the bench excited.

Does it ever end?
Footloose
I think Dixon just played like a freshmen, and the other girls were playing well enough to win. Sargent, not sure what that was about unless it was just how well the 8th grade guards played. I did see some bench behavior in the second half from some veteran Lady Bearcats who did not see much playing time that made me wonder. Anyone else see it?? Can say that I can blame them if they're not happy being in. Even though the eight grades maybe good, some people are sick of them being crammed down their throat. This is a team not "look at me, I'm an eighth grader and I'm so awesome". It's about the team not the little girls. No respect for any on both sides. But YEAH Walton's winning and that's is all that matter and YEAH the little girls are Walton savior.

Not one of them can win a game by themselves!!!! Well said. This TEAM can win very many games, if the players, parents and coachs do not create controversy between themselves by being bias about age. If they can focus on just winning games and be supportive of their roles, its going to be an exciting remainder of the season. But if people continue to worry about their age or playing time, and not buy into the TEAM concept, this TEAM could very easily begin to struggle during the remainder of the season. The TEAM is doing well right now. It's time to be supportive and positive. Nothing good ever results from being negative.

As soon as other teams see them on the WV team and adjust their defense the easy looks and drives will not happen for them. They have had the element of surprise in the last several weeks because there was no tape. Carroll Plays an 8th grader regularly and she is a great 3 point shooter, but after she was identified as such she is not left open to take those shots as much. That is just the way it goes. When a team has geared up for Heeger/Sargeant and has that mind set and then they are not in the game they tend to slack off the replacement. They have talent and can handle the ball, but as teams adjust it will not be as easy for them to come in and look like Saviors and they will have to learn to run the plays and work within the team. I feel for the older girls but it is a fact that the Coach needs to do what she has to to get the win. If this works right now then that will be her strategy. It may completely change in a few weeks. I hear what your saying but the Carroll coach was at the last 2 Walton games and had plenty of time to make adjustments. At this point Walton has a lot of talent on the floor and on the bench. So everyone should just sit back and enjoy it. Instead of some trying to grab the credit/ or others complaining. Just realize that without some players from every class 8th to Senior they would not be as good as they are and would not go as far as they can without each other. They have what everyone was asking for ( a winning team) so it's time to :sssh: and play.

Our Coach does a great job scouting but it is what the players understand and react to that matters. I do not think you understood my post. We had the same thing happen at the beginning of the year and it will change as the year goes on. WV will adjust to the new players on the team. They might not like it or be happy but they will work it out. As well as other teams will learn to play them differently in order to manage the new talent. *Jeanie*
With being close to Walton and their team, I can see both sides. The winning part and playing time. And I understand each player and how they feel towards this issue. I don't know the right way to make everyone happy, and maybe you can't but all I am thinking is that the Walton Coach can find a way to sub in and out girls better than she does. I don't know if this would fix it or not? But for instence, the Carroll game, Sargent starts but then doesn't return into the game? If you start her she must be one of the best players she has, but if she don't come back in, then why start her? I can see both sides to the team, but each girl needs to just come together and be a team. Just like C-Town said above. Their all a team.
madman
Are Walton fans ever satisfied? Why is everyone looking at the negatives? Just three weeks ago there was a thread about "what's wrong with Walton?" At that time they were losing, not playing to their potential, requests to move up the younger girls, coaching mistakes, etc. Now they are winning and people continue to question "what's wrong with Walton?" It appears that the coaching staff and the players have made the necessary adjustments to turn their season around. WV supporters should be excited about this change of direction and quit second guessing the coach about who's getting more playing time or her substitution patterns. This is varsity ball and the girls who produce during the game will be the one's playing. WV fans just need to sit back, relax and enjoy the game. Quit looking for problems, second-guessing and criticizing and enjoy the current success. The team is playing great at this point, don't dampen the excitement with negatives.:jump::ylsuper:
Bald Guy
I totally agree! WV is winning which is what we want. At this level, you play the girls who will get you that win and that is what they are doing. You can't make everyone happy or play everyone. The coaches job is to find the best group and play them. I was very frustrated at the beginning of the season because that was not happening but now it is. So everyone should just enjoy it. Not everyone can be the star, but everyone can contribute in some way!
