gchs_uk9 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Lincoln County improved to 3-0 in district play and 10-3 overall with a win in Lancaster over Garrard County. The Patriots were led in scoring by Noah Keeton with 21 points and Ryan Young with 15. Garrard County kept the game close through halftime, trailing 15-13 after one and 27-23 at the break, before collapsing under the pressure defense of Lincoln County. The Golden Lions, now 2-1 in district play and 11-7 overall, were led in scoring by Jordan Phillips with 17 points. Garrard County didn't play their best game tonight, but even in doing so, Lincoln would still be a 15+ point favorite over the Lions. I've said all year that the 12th Region is Lincoln County's to lose and my feelings have changed little tonight. I've seen most of the prominent 12th Region teams (with the exception of McCreary Central) and I can't see any who can beat the Patriots in the regional tournament.
OLDSCHOOL PATS Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Way to go Lincoln, any update on the girls game.

Lincoln does have some quality wins, but from what I have seen from them they look very beatable within the region.
southernkyhoops Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 The Raiders will beat Lincoln to capture the 12th.
region12hoops Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 The Raiders will beat Lincoln to capture the 12th. So those two are automatically meeting in the regional tournament? Is McCreary so good that Mercer or Somerset or Boyle or W Jess(again) could not beat them. Even Casey Co for that matter only lost to McCreary by 7 or 8 didn't they. I will give McCreary the credit they deserve but it's not like they have blown away everyone in the region and no one but Lincoln can challenge them.
Southern Gentleman Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I dont think anyone wants West Jessamine and they are not even nearly close to being a top level talent team. Tough and play hard on both ends. And yes a few other teams can beat lincoln also....McCreary and Wayne, Boyle, Somerset, and maybe Mercer
Ky Sports Junky 5 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Lincoln is undefeated in district competition, playing without Ethan Spurlin who was averaging somewhere around 20 points and 7 or 8 boards a game, Spurlin who has been sidelined with mononucleosis will be a huge boost for the Pats when he returns to the lineup. IMO Garrard played about as good of a first half as they are capable of playing and Lincoln still led at the half, although 2 Lincoln starters picked up 2 quick fouls and were sidelined most of the first half. Can't wait for the Lincoln v. MC match-up. GO PATS!

If Spurlin comes back healthy, this team is easily the favorite to win the region. Garrard took LC out of their game by playing a slow down methodical style of basketball. They ran more than a minute off the clock numerous times before taking a shot. That is the way you have to beat LC, you will not beat them in a up and down game.

I believe McCreary Co. can hang with Lincoln in an up and down game and also Somerset, in fact I think it would be to Somerset's advantage.
OLDSCHOOL PATS Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I believe anything can happen in region tourny, but the Raiders have been loading up on cupcakes, wile Lincoln Co. has played some quality teams, and still have some really good teams to play.

Lincoln 6-0 in region play. McCreary 7-1 in region play Don't believe either schedule would be called a cupcake.
AverageJoesGym Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Lincoln 6-0 in region play. McCreary 7-1 in region play Don't believe either schedule would be called a cupcake. The combined record of McCreary's opponents: 125-126 The combined record of Lincoln's opponents: 114-84
gswilder Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Have seen Lincoln play several times this year in Lexington and Louisville. Very very good team. Maybe a "sleeper" for the state tournament. I wouldn't be surprised if they upset a couple of teams in the sweet 16. Very solid team and well coached. I love to watch their style of basketball.
The Banker of the South Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 The combined record of McCreary's opponents: 125-126 The combined record of Lincoln's opponents: 114-84 The combined record of your Jumpers opponents: 121-127 With you get excited about the ALL A tournament the teams in the tournament 12-26.
OLDSCHOOL PATS Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Lincoln still has some tough regional games, plus Madison Central, and Lex. Dunbar.
