January 10, 200818 yr Yeah but you also said Adam Dunn was getting traded for Dontelle Willis. That's was hssb. I was just relaying his scoop...
January 10, 200818 yr Is that hearsay? or are you pretty confident in that? Im up-to-date on the recruiting trail and had heard nothing of that? Like I said, it came from someone that was a producer for the TV coverage of the game. I'd say the source was pretty in tune with what was planned for the broadcast...
January 10, 200818 yr GT was posting that in March of 2007. He has a great reputation for knowing those types of things. I give it great credence. Not questioning his credibility. You have to remember though Patterson loved the spotlight and really strung a lot of people around. At that time there were so many "rumors" going around.
January 10, 200818 yr I've said this a few times, and it's often dismissed as rumor, but it came from someone close to the McD's AA game production. Patterson and Lucas verballed to UK and were going to announce it at the game. When Tubby left they canceled that segment in the program... I don't doubt that could have been the case, but have you verballed if you don't tell anybody but the coach? Neither of those two made a public commitment when Tubby was the coach. End of story. Anything past that is speculation.

Neither of those two made a public commitment when Tubby was the coach. End of story. Anything past that is speculation. The exact same thing happened with MarQuis Gray this year in football. He verballed to Minnesota months ago, but didn't announce until the Army All American game. You don't verbal to the fans and recruiting sites, you commit to the coaches. End of story. Like I've said before, I don't care who believes that information. That's how it happened and I have no reason to doubt that source...

You don't verbal to the fans and recruiting sites, you commit to the coaches. End of story. I wouldn't go that far. When most players verbal the public is known of it, esp. if they have intentions to go to that school! When something like a secret verbal comes up it seems the players are still not sure.
January 10, 200818 yr I don't doubt that could have been the case, but have you verballed if you don't tell anybody but the coach? QUOTE] Yes. Many verbals happen at the end of a visit after a recruit is like a deer in the headlights.

Neither of those two made a public commitment when Tubby was the coach. End of story. Anything past that is speculation. Is it speculation if they told the All-Star game TV producer to schedule a press conference so they could announce that they are going to UK?
January 10, 200818 yr Is it speculation if they told the All-Star game TV producer to schedule a press conference so they could announce that they are going to UK? No, but it is speculation that they in fact told the producer that.
January 10, 200818 yr No, but it is speculation that they in fact told the producer that. So, the producer tells you that they did. Is that speculation if you tell someone?
January 10, 200818 yr If you belive Tony Franklins book, big time Georiga recruit Charles Grant verbaled at the end of his recruiting visit, and his mom and HS coach asked Franklin to not leak it to the media. Franklin says that after informing this to Bassett, it ended up in the Herald Leader the next day. Grant backed out and ended up signing with Georiga. Verbals happen just to coaches all the time.
January 10, 200818 yr So, the producer tells you that they did. Is that speculation if you tell someone? No, but it is hearsay. Recruiting is all about speculation and what some person told someone. Its became a joke how much people obsess and read into stuff.
January 10, 200818 yr I asked So, the producer tells you that they did. Is that speculation if you tell someone? You answered. No, but it is hearsay. Recruiting is all about speculation and what some person told someone. Its became a joke how much people obsess and read into stuff. So you agree that it isn't speculation when GT was told by the producer of the television show that they requested a press conference to announce UK was their choice. So, if you don't believe that GT was told that it speaks to GT's credibility....BUT you said. Not questioning his credibility. You have to remember though Patterson loved the spotlight and really strung a lot of people around. At that time there were so many "rumors" going around. So, you don't question his credibility, so you must believe that it was asked, planned and expected to occur until Tubby resigned.:thumb:

I can't recall me saying that what he said was untrue?? did I??? Im saying there are so many stories about recruiting now-a-days (especially with the whole Patterson story) that who knows what is true or what was just speculation. There was stuff all over Duke boards about information people had been told that Patterson would be coming to Duke, and as it turned out he was never seriously considering Duke like he was UF and UK!
January 10, 200818 yr Neither verbally committed unless it was in secret. Imo BCG was the main reason we got Patterson. They said Patterson liked Tubby a lot, however UF was the leader until BCG came along. See I dont buy that one bit. That would just not make much sense at all. Gillispie. really did not have any relationship at all with Patterson, and Tubby and Billy D did for awhile. I think Patterson coming here, shows the information GT had was most likely right and he and Lucas was planning on coming here. However when Tubby left it got them to changed their decision. I mean if UF was the leader as you said before Billy G came, then it makes no sense why Patterson then would all of a sudden change his decision to go with a coach who he barely had a relationship at all with in Billy G. Him coming here, really shows that he wanted to go here, and that is where I do give credit to Billy G though because he was able to get Patterson to still come here like he was going to if Tubby was the coach. So if Tubby was still coach we would have Patterson and Lucas right now. And who knows we maybe just maybe could have had Morris still as well. I know that would be unlikely, but with Tubby leaving that killed any chance at all for Morris coming back as well.
