Former Raceland QB Scott Grizzle transfers to Georgetown College

I heard from a very reliable source that Scott Grizzle, a former all-state quarterback at Raceland, will be leaving KCU and transfering to Georgetown College this semester. This past season at KCU he split time at QB with Heath Thomas, a graduate of Huntington High, who I heard is also transfering to a West Virginia college. I dont have any details why Grizzle is transfering but i wish him the best of luck at Georgetown.

I am pretty sure this was Scott's plan when entering KCU, he wanted to gain some experience and get noticed by a bigger program. Good luck to Scott, he is a very talented QB and has the possibility to earn a position at Georgetown.

KCU is not a junior college is it. If those were his intentions he should have went the JUCO route. Good luck to him though, I hope he make the roster for the Tigers.

His first choose was EKU, and they were interested, I spoke with the EKU coach at a Raceland game. But, I think they wanted him to walk on his freshman year, he may have looked at the JUCO, but with the new program starting at KCU, they wanted him badly and it was close to home, Coach Dameron knew his intention, and seeing that Coach Dameron was on the National Champion team as a QB at Georgetown, I would say that he helped Scott get a scholarship at Georgetown.

I would doubt Coach Damron was just helping him move on. Meaning that when Coach Damron and company recruited him that it was an agreement of "hey play a year here and see what happens w/ Georgetown, etc." I don't doubt Coach Damron wished Scott well and even made a call or two after Scott was looking to leave, but I really doubt he recruited him just to play one year, then leave....especially to a future Conference rival.

I may be wrong, but I think more of Coach Dameron then for him to do that. Scott was not on a scholarship, because they did not have scholarships last season. Scott was very adamant about wanting to play at a bigger school, I as pretty sure that Coach Dameron knew this well a head of time. I am, also pretty sure, that everyone involved knew this was going to happen.

I may be wrong, and it may have not happened this way, but that is what I have understood from day one.

Bad move IMO, I've seen Grizzle for a few years and many successful players from Kentucky have gone to Georgetown only to be lost somewhere in the depth chart. I maybe wrong and he may have a very successful career but if he was getting playing time at KCU I would have advised to stay there and develop his skills with his teamates. Georgetown likes to get you in there and change your position.
