To be honest i know quiet a few people that have complained about it and there NOT Mason fans.When the time comes people we show up no matter where its at this forum is there way to vent off there unhappiness.:thumb:

 

You are right, being a long fan of 10th Region their fans are the best in the state and they will show up. But when they show up where are they going to sit? I have done games there including the Girls Regional tourney last year and it is just not as convinent as the Fieldhouse. Mason does have room for Radion crews, stats, and visitor scorekeepers behind their table. Montgomery has very little if any. Big guys like me cannot squeeze into a space made for a teenager.

They can put all of the effort and care they can into this tourney, but it will not change the outcome. Fans will be turned away and schools will lose money. It's got nothing to do with being selfish, it's about being practical.

Schools will not lose money, as the business in Montgomery Co has pledged to make up the difference. Everyone needs to give them a chance.

They don't care about those who can't get in or the kids who must ride a school bus for 2 hours on school nights. I would be willing to bet that if all 10th region schools had a vote in this matter, changing the tournament location would not be an issue. Maybe KHSAA should change the rule about districts deciding and put it to a vote of the entire region.

I disagree. Keeping it at Mason every year is selfish. But it has been OK for the Clark Co kids to have to get out early for 5:00 games, when the game were at Mason Co. School at GRC is not out till 3:40. Any teachers, staff or students would have to leave early to get to Mason on time for the game. We have to charter buses every year to attend the region....can't get schools busses back in time... we will bring 3-4 buses. It takes 1 1/2 hour by bus for the Clark Co kids...but that is OK???? It is time that Mason face the same . 2 years ago our chartered basketball bus broke down. The band bus, let the boys ride their bus , so they could make the game in time. Our band arrived at half time. By the way that is the game we beat PC in the semi-finals. Yes there will be hard ships for some schools. Rotating the region allows for those hardships to be spread out and not the same schools year after year. Mason has had the luxury of having the region on their home court for years. You will have to travel this year and leave early to get a good seat.Or has some has stated ...stay home...the games will go on.

Only half of the Clark County fans could have gotten in to witness and celebrate a Regional Championship. Get all of your fans there early enough if they want in. If they want to be there that badly... they will get there as early as they have to.:thumb: Just the same as if CC fans want a lower level seat at the field house.. Get there early.

I love the statement that the businesses will make up the differences in the revenue. I would think that those same businesses could make those same donations to improve the education of the students in Montgomery County. I'm sure there are teachers that would love new computers in their classrooms or more classrooms supplies. I'm equally as sure that there are music programs in need of new instruments or co-curricular activites such as FFA or FCCLA that could use the extra funds as well. But by all means lets use the money to pay for a tournament that the vast majority of the region doesn't want to be there anyway! It makes perfect sense to me.:irked:

I totally disagree with this. I was at that game, and while it was a very good crowd, it was not a packed house where people had to be turned away. My guess is that same crowd could have fit in Montgomery's gym. There is a huge misconception about how many people are actually in the Fieldhouse on the night or afternoon of a regional final. With a few exceptions, such as the Pendleton/Montgomery final a few years ago, most every crowd that has attended sessions at Mason Co. could have been accomodated at Montgomery Co. If you don't believe me, ask your school's AD or administrator to see the 10th region expense report that gets sent to every participating school. It will have a breakdown of attendance of every session of the tournament. You will find very few sessions over the past several years that exceed Montgomery Co.'s capacity.

They wouldn't have to do this at all if they played in the 15th region. They are within a short driving distance to Richmond or a short trip down the interstate from Frankfort. Big gyms with lots of seats as well as short drives. Best of both worlds. I'm sure there are other Northern Ky schools that wouldn't mind joining the 10th region and Fleming County could always return. Since the 10th region is now so spread out maybe this should be a discussion for KHSAA.

No biggie to me. If you read any of my earlier posts, I only recently became a royal fan. Check my join date. My team got beat very early last year and not by GRC. She was the one complaining about buses. I just pointed out the obvious!

I know our AD and tournament directors very well. I believe last year finals were approxiamtely 3000 paid but I have been told that they are as many 500 passes for the tournament. They also said that there were 1700 paid at last years girls and there was very little room left. If people think that last years Mason-Clark crown could have fit in Montgomery, they must be looking at the Montgomery gym with different eyes than mine.
