Montgomery Co 63 Campbell Co 54

Featured Replies

Final

The game is fairly tight from the 2nd quarter through the 4th. With about 4 minutes to go in the game, Montgomery Co pulls away.

Montgomery Co will play Mason Co in the championship game of the MCIT tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.

Alot of free throws missed in this one by Campbell. But the game wasn't called fairly down the stretch. Alot of terrible calls!

I thought that the stripes let way too much contact go.

Two years ago hand checks were a point of emphasis. The officials over-officiated that call and destroyed the flow of the game. Now they seem to have gone the other way and allow the defender to mug the ball-handler. Somewhere in between is a happy medium.

How do you think they let contact go when CC was in the bonus in the first half and double in the second? Also they should have T'd the kid who basicaly Tackled nerl at the end of the third quarter. Worst officiating I have ever seen.

Officials can establish the "rules" early. Call a few 15% contact fouls early and the players know that they can't get away with it and will play accordingly.

Tonight it seemed that 25% body contact and double hand checks etc was legal and the kids played accordingly.

I'm not sure that the Nerl tackle should have been a T - but it sure should have been intentional!

Exhausting game for the Camels. They looked tired by the end of this one. They definitly gave it their all. Poor foul shooting and turnovers cost them this one. I think Montgomery Co knows they were lucky to get out of this one with a victory. They are a solid team and camels will improve greatly when they play more teams like them. While Reitze's easy early season scheduling makes for an attractive won loss record it seems to cost us in a game such as this. The good news is our starting five are all underclassmen and we play a team that starts three seniors down to the wire. Camels will pull off a few upsets before this season concludes.

Stewie learned several years ago that the refs are almost always right after viewing a tape of a game I thought was poorly called. Guess what? They nailed every call and I now keep my mouth shut. Try it, and you will enjoy the game a lot more.

the officiating was bad all the way around....just accept a loss with out making excuses. Both teams played hard, Montgomery is just the better team.

Give me a break:rolleyes:. The Campbell faithful talked about the bad officiating after the game at Montgomery when the Indians won by 12. Now you complain about tonight - after the refs let the Camels rape Stephens every time he went up for a shot. :fight: It's time to find a new excuse.

That being said, Coach Code had the Camels ready to play tonight. They came out physical on defense and ready to attack Montgomery's full court traps on offense. Albrect (?sp) was a stud again tonight for the Camels.

For the Tribe, Josh Clark was a monster again with 16 and 9. Brandon Rash added 14 and I think Stephens had 12.

This does not happen often, but I agree with Mustang on the officials. They did let more contact happen than I have seen on both ends in a long time. I think they missed calls on both ends.

Missed free throws and turnovers are what cost us this game. I think we were better prepared than the last time we played and will continue to improve.

People keep talking about our easy schedule that Reitz's played. We are playing the same teams now as we did at the end of the Sullivan years. I have been told by administration at the high school that in order for our smaller sports to play in the NKAC we have to schedule basketball conference games. The problem is we are 10th region for boys and girls basketball, but have to play a larger number of 9th region teams so other sports can play conference. It would be better for basketball to play the teams they will be competing against in March, plus some of the better 9th teams. Unfortunately we can't do that.

There are many mandated games on the Camels schedule. They do have to play the NKAC Division I schedule, and because of district seeding must play each team in the 37th District.

The NKAC teams provide good competition - they are: Holmes, Boone County, Covington Catholic, Conner, Simon Kenton, Scott, Dixie Heights, and Ryle

The District schools that they must play are: Scott (NKAC and 37th Dist), Calvary Christian, Silver Grove, and Bishop Brossart.

They participated in the Bluegrass-Buckeye Charity Classic and were assigned to play Lexington Christian.

They played in the Gateway Holiday Classic at Montgomery County where they faced Greenup County, Montgomery County, and Johnson Central.

They are long time participants in the MCIT where they played Harrison County and Montgomery County.

They chose to play in the "Colt Classic" at West Jessamine where they will play Tates Creek.

The remaining "independent" games that they choose to play are: Bourbon County, Newport, Bracken County, Pendleton County (twice), Mason County, St. Patrick, and Harrison County.

So in effect if you put the Camels schedule under the microscope and determine weak schedule or strong schedule you must base it on the "Colt Classic" game and the "independent" games that they play. Remember also that most games are under multiple year contracts and that scheduling games with desired opponents is not as easy as picking up the phone and calling them. Each school has schedule constraints that restrict how many "independent" games they can play. The "A" schools have the additional scheduling responsibility to the "A" Classic games.

GRC (Clark County) is the only notable 10th Region contender that I see missing from the Camel lineup and NCC and Highlands are the only other top 9th Region schools that I would attempt to get on the schedule, replacing possibly St. Patrick, Bracken County, and/or possibly one of the Pendleton County games.

Very physical game, both teams had alot of bad calls. In the end the better team won.

Lots of turnovers for the Camels and they only made 9 of 20 free throws. Some of those were front end of the bonus. While I thought the calls were poor both ways it didn't cost the Camels the game. Montgomery likes to pull jerseys and push in the back on layups and unless the refs see that they aren't going to call it. I don't think it matters much at this point because no one is going to beat Mason in the 10th this season. As far as the Camel schedule, every team in the state schedules some games against lesser competition if you don't think so then look at the schedules. The conference does bind the Camel when it comes to scheduling. I wish they had gotten out of it when they move to the tenth.l

I couldn't disagree more. I think Campbell is the better team but inexperience leads them to lose games in the end.

Are you kidding? Stevens played dirty all night the kid had a T and fouled out of the game. There is a fine line between playing physical and playing dirty and this team has crossed it. They intentionally fouled Nerl at the end of the third, they were pushing in the back and pulling jerseys all game long.
