I don't have a dog in this fight. However, the point was made that "a team can alter the other teams playing style that much I would have to say that they are the better team". In my humble opinion, it's the team that wins those games that's the better team.

I'll use Mason County/Bishop Brossart last year as an example. Brossart lost 5 games last year - one to Lexington Catholic, one to Pendleton County (still trying to figure out how the stars were aligned that day) and three times to Mason County. They held Mason to an average of 60 points per game. And lost by an average of 14 points per game.

Who was the better team last year? Yes, Brossart may have dictated tempo, and may have even "altered Mason's playing style" to a certain extent. But to me, it;s the mark of the better team when they can win those games where they are forced out of their normal tempo.

Just a casual observer's opinion.

If you think Cambell is better than Montgomery by any means you have to be kidding. Campbell will lose to Mason by 20+. Montgomery could have pulled away from Campbell and beat them by 20 the reason they didnt is because Stephens especially and the rest of the Indians had guys hanging on their arms all night.

I'm very aware of that but I do think they could keep it inside 20 against Mason.

The only reason they would have a chance to keep it within 20 is because they play so slow.

Its unfortunite that players have been taught that its O.K. to push or pull on an opponents jersey as long as their not caught. Like so many other instances in sports, as long as the finale result is victory its fine. Lets call an ace an ace. If a player does something he knows is againts the rules on purpose then isn't he cheating ? Stewie believes sportsmanship is a lot more than shaking hands after the game. What ever happen to playing fair. You don't get to pick and chose when your going to be a honorable person. Its called ethics and it should be practiced on and off the field of play.Come on Coaches. Its a lot more than wins and losses. My Sunday sermon is over.

In reference to your thoughts on being taught to it being ok to push and pull and not get caught and how coaches teach these tactics I don't think you need to cop out behind "in general" if you want to call a "Spade a Spade" then you need to call Montgomery's coaches bush league. My son plays for the Indians and I have witnessed countless practices and never once have I heard the coaches, who by the way are a group of great character guys, tell their players to play dirty. There are occasions that the players will show their tails but this is up to the referee's to handle with coaches to address it after the action. The coaches can not control the players actions just as they can't make shots for them. They can warn them and discipline them but the players actions are on them.

Why in the world do we play sports? For the competition...It's been around for ever. The world is about winning. It teaches the athletes real world applications, the world is not going to say it's okay you don't get the job let's all just be happy and smile because we're unemployed, living on the streets, and can't feed ourselves. You're a tax payer aren't you? Congrats your philosophy is creating those people on welfare you pay for. Keep it up!

Well considering both times we either had a lead late or were tied i don't think that that means your team is better, more experienced but not better. The Camels only have 4 seniors on the team one of which doen't play at all. With the exception of Rash, Who is top 2 or 3 in the state, I dont believe you have a defensive player that is anywhere near Nerl. CC forced MC to play their style of basketball which is slow and low scoring. When I watch a game and see that a team can alter the other teams playing style that much I would have to say that they are the better team. We have a team of supurbly talented athletes who could excell at any sport. This team is just more talented overall than Montgomery. When we play tates creek on the 1/19 we'll see if we can beat a team that you have lost to. Also we play Mason on 1/15. Maybe you should make the trip and see if they give them a game. I'll save you a seat.

You know as well as I do that the comparison of one team and their oppenents with another does not justify the better team. Take a look at your record versus Montgomery's 0-2.

PERIOD.

Let me get this straight Love . Just because a person is the most qualified for a job he shouldn't get it if the other applicant can figure out a way to take it from him. Do you really want the world to work that way. When you push a player going for a lay-up or pull his jersey to slow him down your telling him. I can't beat you by the rules so I'll cheat. I hope to God that life is about more than winning.Sure I enjoy winning as much as the next guy,but only if I can win within the rules. Remember some of the final phone calls that the victims of 9-11 made.I don't remember any of those being about winning.

One final note on this subject.Every parent, coach and athlete should make this book required reading. It changed my whole view on sports and I'm sure it will change the hardcore among you .Sports: The All American Addiction. by John Gerdy.

This one is done.
