LCA 58 Rose Hill 53

Featured Replies

Just got back in town, was in Lex. for the game. Terrible help defense for the Royals, too many dribble drives in the lane for easy buckets. I forgot to take my computer with me and couldn't wait to see all of the drama unfold in this thread, and I am actually very surprised that the thread is still open. I did do a bit of research on Booger before posting. Of Booger's 223 posts, there have been 48 in threads that involve his school. There have been 62 in threads involving Rose Hill. There have been 8 that involve both. I'd guess that his argument that the Rose Hill faithful only come to the computer when they win is somewhat accurate. Similar to his propensity to post in RH threads when they lose.

I saw several things in the LCA game that I thought were improvements. I saw signs of better defense on occasion, I also saw signs of Euton's shot starting to fall with more consistency and I thought he played near the goal much better. I wish that he hadn't walked on the last 3 attempt, but then again, his teammate was wide open for the shot and didn't take it. Those things will work out hopefully before the post season arrives.

In all honesty this wasn't all that bad of a game for "the Hill" LCA, was only down 1 in the second half to Scott Co. the next night. I realize that Scott ended up winning by 25 but game was ALOT closer than the score indiated!

I've cut back my posting considerably since the start of the season.

It has nothing to do with wins or losses, and everything to do with being tired of dealing with people who enjoy criticizing 16 year-old kids trying to have fun playing a game they love.

20 or 30 years from now, points-per-game and rebounds will pale by comparison to the quality of character being built in these young men today. From top to bottom, the boys on the basketball teams at both Rose Hill and LCA are some of the finest young men it is my priviledge to know. I know great kids at all the schools in the 16th Region and find myself rooting for them... even when we play their team.

LCA has a terrific team that is improving. They will surprise some opponents this season.

The LCA event is one of the finest showcase events Rose Hill has ever been a part of, and everyone involved appreciates the staff and parents at LCA for inviting Rose Hill and displaying such genuine Christian hospitality. :thumb:

Being part of the LCA family, I want to thank you for those kind words, and I know the LCA staff thinks a lot of the Rose Hill program. You are so correct that in 20 years what was done on the high school basketball courts will be long forgotten. As I have mentioned in other posts my son is the LCA player that sustained the knee injury that has kept him from participating in any games this year, and yet being part of the LCA program, having Tommy Huston and Brad Carter as coaches, has been a blessing to him. I am more proud of the person he has become, than anything he might have been able to accomplish on the basketball court this year. All basketball shots taken today will be fade aways come tomorrow.

I love the atmosphere at Lexington Christian school. I like the prayer they have before each game, the neatness and cleanliness of their gym, halls and restrooms and the way their students dress and the way they behave. I'm real impressed and I think they're doing it the way it should be done. :ylsuper:

Very classy post. I think many of us old timers feel the same way.

Souonds like a pretty good effort from Rose Hill. I watched LCA in the 5/3 Tournament and thought Rose Hill would be hard pressed to stay with them. Lets give Euton a break. The kid's a good player and will only get better. I am sure every coach in the region would love to have a player just like him.

AMEN... that's more like it. :thumb:

Not only that, but a lot of parents would love to have a kid just like him.

I know I'd adopt him in a heartbeat... even if I do have to buy the groceries...

You are more than welcome.

Don't take this the wrong way, I am genuinely sorry your son is only watching for now, but I'm kinda relieved he wasn't on the floor Friday night, it could have been really ugly for the Hill.

I pray your son has a speedy and complete recovery. He's a quality player, and deserves to finish this season on a high note. :thumb:

Whats wrong with Rose Hill this year ? Who did they lose from last years team ?

It seems like this team was a lot better last year. Are they just not playing well this year ? Whats the deal ?

They are playing a lot tougher schedule than they have ever played with the possible exception of 2002-2003, and they're working on things that will hopefully make them a better team in March. We'll just have to see if it pays off.

They started three sophomores, a senior and a freshman at LCA... I think they have a lot of room (and time) to improve...

Plus, everywhere they go outside of the 16th Region, TV crews, newspapers, etc. are there to record Euton and Jackson. I realize a seasoned veteran such as yourself is used to a media circus, but it's an adjustment for 16 year-old kids.

Give 'em a chance... they'll be just fine. :thumb:

It's tough to be me right now. I get tired of the constant calls from UK wanting me to lace em back up and come out.

I wasn't bashing the Rose Hill kids at all. It just seems like last year they played some of the states top competition and played very well against them. I was wondering if they lost anyone to graduation because they just don't seem to be playing as well as they were last season.

You know, I actually had to go to the KHSAA website to look at RH’s wins and losses… really, I just don’t have that stuff memorized. IMO, it would be silly to suggest that RH has lost to a bunch of cupcakes. In every loss, RH was in the game well into the third or fourth quarter. It’s not like they couldn’t play with any of the teams that ultimately won. If winning ballgames were easy, or simple, everyone would do it.

The bottom line is I have faith in some very good kids, who also happen to be pretty decent ballplayers. They are growing and learning and are going to finish this season just fine.

It’s a game, let ‘em play, enjoy it. It’ll all be over too soon anyway, and they’ll be telling their wives and kids they really were pretty good back in the day.

If I'm still around, I'll agree with them. :thumb:

Hey, I appreciate you being concerned about what I post, but I have done a little research on things myself:thumb:

BTW, after a little research, just wondering, by which username did you use to do your research on me?:thumb::thumb:

I also believe there has been quite a few more forums about your school to post in, then mine. Now last year was a different story when we had some coaching forums.

You have to admit that is the good thing about the 16th Region...the tide definetly turns, good today - just decent tomorrow. The 16th Region has been blessed with parity over the past 15 yrs. Seems no county has been dominant thru that time, along with the fact that several different teams have represented the 16th Region at the State Tournament. Personally I think it is nice to see different teams dominate in different years, makes for an interesting Region.

I dont believe anyone would have ever imagined 15 yrs ago that Elliott County or Rose Hill would be at the top of the Region. That is what makes the 16th Region special.:thumb:
