sure he would have. Do you think that he played over there so he could be seen by U of Ky Coaches?? Heck I know the Ky Kings play 3/4 at Uof Ky. Coaches and scouts find the players they're looking for it's their job! It usually the misinformed parents that cause the problems. There is not enough good arms in Nky to create your "super nky team".

Adams, Elliot, Nichols, Farris, Maile, Isler, Nutini, and many other players have very very strong arms in NKY and clearly showed it over the summer.

 

The Colonels lost to the Redskins last year 7-6 in the last inning and showed they could compete with them despite a young team. If you were to assemble all the players from each of the 3 three organizations, you are going to have a even better lineup and team than with just one.

I think (and I am not speaking for coop) that what cooperstwon and I were speaking about, is that if you merged the best of the best of the best into one team representing NKy, then the outstanding teams from Ny, Midland, East Cobb, etc. etc. etc. wouldn't be so successful in beating such a team as they are now in beating us. Since we have three really good teams, instead of one great team our kids while giving the big boys a run for their money, never seem to beat them. Imagine if you will, want kind of team you would have if you took all the best talent from the local summer leagues teams and put them on one team. Do you think that Cory would have gone over the river to play for Midland, if he had a chance to play for a super NKy team? Now that would be a fun team to watch and for the community to really back!

:thumb: Agree! There are plenty enough strong arms in the NKY area. An all-NKY team plays with Midland all week long and twice on Sunday. This is particulary impressive when you consider that 3/4 of Midland's team is from out of state and not local.

 

Of course, this one "super NKY" is not going to happen, but there is no doubt that the talent exists here in NKY. Maile and Farris on the same team? Wow. And let's not forget Tyler Brake at Conner. One of the prettiest swings in all of NKY.

Correct me i am wrong and OG you should know this but didnt the KY Colonels give the godly Midland Redskins a run for there money last summer. If i remember correctly the Colonels practically gave Midland the game as they had many missed oppurtunities to score in the top of the 7th and still went into the bottom of the 7th leading 3-2 and Midland scored 2 runs on errors and walks. Not to mention Midland pitched one of their best in Seth Blair who is currently on a full ride at Arizona State who is ranked second in the nation preseason. If you ask me there is no question that if this 'super team' happened that not only would we compete but we would beat these teams. Just my opinion.

I'm certain none of us have made them into "gods." But the simple undeniable fact of the matter is that Midland (and Cobb and a few others) are some of the most prestigious programs in the country and have been for some time. I hardly think that acknowledging the very high quality of these programs is the same as bestowing them deity status.

There is no doubt that Elliot is a tremendous athlete, a joy to watch play baseball and a real good football player, but was he recruited by a D1 school in football? Please remember that one D1 player doesn't make a program, it takes a team (like Ryle and Beechwood have experienced the last couple of years) to go to state. You are correct that "the proof is in the pudding" but Ryle has some excellent talent in their baseball program coming through in the next couple of years. Are there any D1 players? I don't think anyone could say definitively either way because Ryle unlike most baseball programs in NKY has had a philosophy of "you have to wait your turn". What happens in this scenario is that you really don't get to see how good someone could be untill his junior year when he gets a chance at the varsity level.

I personally don't know about the D1 interest and can't comment on that, but since we are talking about the summer programs in NKY, I do know that Ryle in their junior and senior class right now will have 2 players on the Colonels, 5 on the Kings team, and I believe 3 on the Bluegrass team. So obviously there is some type of talent.

The coaches don't care about whether they win or lose. The boys, on the other hand, are boys and want to win no matter what. Don't confuse that.

 

Every baseball players wants to win the game so don't say that they don't care if they win or lose. If you want my personal opinion, if the Colonels play some small ball they win that game.

 

And if you all know Walt Terrel and Denny Taney well enough you should know they hardly ever have a kid bunt because they want them to swing the bat in front of the college coaches and scouts. The only time they will ever ask a kid to bunt is if a scout asks him to. He lets them show what they have so everyone can see just how good they are.

He's a stud, no doubt. And, as I've said many times before, he earns extra points in my book for being such a humble, polite, disciplined young man. There is not one scintilla of cockiness about the kid. He will go places.

Not sure about the kids comming up on the 08 Raiders, but last year, Wags, Hump and Murray had D1 interest.

 

As far as 2 sport players

Vince Murray for football and Baseball....not sure he will have time for basebal though.

 

Austin Seabald for baseball and soccer....he will play both I understand.

 

I am sure there are a few more, have to get out the yearbooks.
