9th Region Girls All A discussion

Shame on you for noting including Ludlow! They are 12-3 and winning games by 20+ like no ones business. Their coach is listed on BGP as the next best thing and it isn't easy to coach a couple 6'2"ish girls when other teams are lucky to have one 5'11" girl! Go Mighty Lady Panthers!!!

Yeah!! I'm with you on that one. :ylsuper:

Who made this bracket? Villa is in the semi's already. HC or Newcath would play 4 games to win it, while Villa would play 2 games! I can't believe the coaches would allow this bracket to happen.

It's my understanding that when Heritage folded up their girls program everything had already been put in place making the already easy bracket that much easier. They should have redone the brackets IMO. Not sure who is in charge of the 9th Region draw but they dropped the ball in this instance as far as I'm concerned.

Ludlow will be tested in the 1st round...they play St. Henry, who they squeaked by last week with a 1 point win...good games on the opening nights!

Good Luck Lady Panthers !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah!! I'm with you on that one. :ylsuper:

You know that was nothing but a smart comment by him right?

Wow what is your problem. This is now the second smart little comment I have heard you say about Ludlow and Coach Stamm in this thread? Im sorry if your jealous of him as a coach...

What!??? How is it possible that I be so sarcastic, yet not be able to recognize a sarcastic comment when I see one? I actually thought he was being legit. I must say I was confused about the two 6'2" girls comment. That should have tipped me off. I just thought it was not a very clearly written post. Guess I'm just naive and think that people would rather root for a team than root against other teams. Forget him (or her) then. I still say GO PANTHERS!!!!!!

Thanks for recognizing my weird sense of humor. I really don't have a problem with Ludlow or Coach Stamm. I actually like the small town community success story, and pull for them. I do get tired of hearing how great they are and how they are rolling teams. When in reality, they SHOULD be rolling those teams and against those teams a folding chair could coach them and win (no disrespect to Coach Stamm here). IMO a team that has Daughtery and the other two 6'2" girls should win a lot of games. His coaching didnt make Daughtery that good, she was born skilled. And we all know you can't coach height. So yes, they were sarcastic. Sorry it was the whole Peyton Manning thing.....you see him on every commercial so you start getting a sour taste.

I do wish Ludlow luck in the All A against the private schools!!!! But I do still think they need to beat some tougher opponents before I jump on everyone elses bandwagon about how great they are.....

Please show me in the threads where people were making a huge deal over the wins on teams we should beat. The main thing people have been saying is that Ludlow now has seemed to actually started to come together and are playing better ball now. Earlier in the year, they were pretty inconsistent and that is why they lost a couple of games they should not have. But now Ludlow is playing like they are capable of, and beating teams like they should be doing. So that makes us happy to see that Ludlow seems to be playing some of their best ball of the year heading into the All A now. I mean I have now seen a few times this year people start to give props to Brossart a team that beat NCC, and Brossart is a team that Ludlow beat by double digits. Then in the very beginning of this thread, someone mentioned St. Henry along with Holy Cross and NCC as having chances to win this tournament, but not mention Ludlow. So that is why when Ludlow then beat St. Henry, people had some stuff to say about it. I mean that just shows that many people dont give much respect for Ludlow, it happens all the time. You see people give credit to other teams, which Ludlow beat but not say anything good about Ludlow. I mean just like last year as well, I mean Ludlow beat Holy Cross. Yet Holy Cross still always got talked about more last year. Then this year both Holy Cross and Ludlow have about the same teams, yet everyone still just rather talk about Holy Cross than Ludlow. So honestly Ludlow does do things that should get some respect, but people always just seem to like to ignore it and forget about it. So that is why you see Ludlow get people on here, and try to show that Ludlow definitely should get some respect because do have a very good team. Also as for Ashley Daughtery yeah she is very skilled, but she has gotten better every single year under coach Stamm. Your little comment about Stamm having nothing to do with Ashley being as good as she is, is just crazy.. I mean judging by your comments, you must think all the top coaches are overrated. I mean because you say if you have talent it is easy to coach. Then well I guess you don't think NCC's coach is very good, or Boone County, Holy Cross's coach or NDA's coach is very good, since I mean they usually always get the most talented players to go to their schools and as you say I guess a folding chair coach could coach those teams. Oh yeah by the way some of those top teams, have had former Ludlow players on their teams. One of the top players in the region is actually a former Ludlow player in Katie Behrens. So those coaches are just really lucky right that they get those players, and really aren't as good as coaches as people think. I mean that is basically the type of stuff you are saying in that comment of yours..

I don't know about last year. I am retired from coaching and I have had some players that went on to DI and DII programs. Those players made me look great. I can't lie. I taught them the game from my perspective and they helped my teams win a lot of games. After they were gone, I was doing the same things and losing. I went from looking like a genius, to looking like a fool. Meanwhile I was doing the same things. Anybody that has a girl as good as her walk in your gym can help refine their skills, but you aren't making them good. They were that before hand! And I think the Clary girl is the one I like on the team the most! She has the DI body and potential!

The greatest things about opinions, is that they are just opinions. I don't know that I see Ludlow being an upper level team yet. For the good news and hope for all the little schools I hope so! Once they win the All A, or do well in it, I will change my tune! And eat crow ;)

Ludlow has done well in the All A under Coach Stamm. Also I want to know what you think of as a upper level team. I know IMO an upper level team is a team that is probably one of the top 8 teams in the region, since the region has 8 teams in it. And well Ludlow is DEFINITELY one of the top 8 teams in the region, and will be back in the region for the second year in a row, and probably have a chance to make a little noise in it this year, after getting a taste of it last year...Also so basically what you are saying is that all the coaches that are known as top coaches in this region are not as good as they seem, since they always have a bunch of talent right? Because you basically did say that you don't think that Stamm is that good of a coach, since he just has talented players. So I mean I guess you think that then about the coaches who are always given the most talented teams every year right?

There is one thing I do agree with you in your post though. And that Chelsea Clary is a big part of the team. She has really stepped up her game this year, and has had some really good games. She plays tough on defense, and has a really nice shot, as we saw that the other night when she made 4 three pointers in just the first half against Bellevue..;)

When coaches put the time in over the summer time to do camps and work fundamentals and then develop a kid that their freshmen year wasn't very good, and then progresses over time, I consider this a good coach. When a freshmen comes in and instantly obtains double doubles (which I heard Daughtery did as a freshmen), then the coach was lucky to get that player. That is what I was saying. And maybe with some of the other players Coach Stamm has done that. I don't know. I do know that having her and the other two big girls is a huge advantage over the other small schools. (a good problem to have :p) Someone was telling me about how Calvary had a few big girls a couple years back and rolled over teams. It wasn't the coaching, it was the talented player that came through at the time. When they graduated, the wins left also....

As far as a top notch program, I am new to this whole district/region/all a thing. I consider NKY as an area. I don't know any of the boundaries or whatever. Since they are all considered the same class (where Ohio has 4 classes), I don't consider Ludlow an upper level team. They wouldn't beat Boone, NDA, Highlands, and so forth IMO.......

And my folding chair comment was a slang that myself and my fellow colleagues used to call when a team when beat another team by 20 + points. Just a phrase. The team would have won no matter if the coaches

were there or not.....

Well they get to play Boone here soon, so that game will be a good measuring stick. But you named three teams there which are probably the three top teams. However some of the other teams you left off, Ludlow definitely could beat. Would it take a very good complete game for Ludlow of coarse. However Ludlow definitely has the team to be be able to compete with just about anyone this year and win. So IMO that makes them one of the upper level teams, because they definitely are talented enough to be an upper level team. Now the real key is though for them to believe that too, and not listen to some people on here like you all. Because Ludlow has the talent to, so they dont need to go into games feeling all nervous when playing a big name team, because they have the talent now to beat anyone. The girls just need to realize that and I think they are starting too...

Also back to the Ashley Daughtery thing, I believe she had been playing some since she was a 8th grader, and she was skilled. However a big part of her playing so much that you mentioned is because the players in front of her especially in the post just were not that good at all. So yeah she had talent, but if there was anyone down low that was good at all, she probably would not have been playing much at all. Stamm and staff realized that and put her in there at a young age, and helped a person who already have talent, become one of the top players in the whole region. So he definitely had a hand in getting her to become the player that she is.

Also this is getting off of topic in this thread. So if you want to continue this, lets just do it in PM's...
