January 4, 200818 yr I will be voting Republican but havent really figured out who as of yet. I guess I am leaning towards Romney right now. Huckabee is roughly the Republican version of John Edwards and has a populist feel. He would steer the GOP to the left on foreign and economic issues. Guiliani, I don't think will be able to overcome his personal issues even though he has some similarities to Teddy Roosevelt... Romney is probably closer to a true right winger than either of the above...maybe not as much as Thompson, but ol Fred doesn't seem to have the mojo going. McCain has seemed to have re-enegized his campaign and needs New Hampshire... It will be interesting to see how this plays out. For the Dems...I'm guessing Obama and Hillary will be duking it out and the Dem nominee will be known well before the GOP nominee. Hillary has been campaigning and has been moving more to the middle but would rule from the left away from what she is running on.

Among second-place finishers who claimed a "moral victory," we have Steve Forbes in 2000, Pat Buchanan in '96, and Pat Robertson in 1988. Because of their nature, the caucuses tend to be dominated by the "party faithful" rather than showing a true picture of how voters in a state really feel. Turnout is always low, people who are working or sick or taking care of children find it difficult to attend and there's no absentee balloting so eligible members of the military aren't able to vote. To me, neither party's "result" has meaning.

To me, neither party's "result" has meaning. :thumb: I don't like the idea of a caucus for a presidential party nomination. It's not a true reading of a state, for the reasons you listed and more. All states should have the same format (such as Kentucky's) because these elections affects a national/federal decision, not a state. And the elections should be over in all states in about 10 week window, which means none should begin in any state before the last of February.

If you mean they haven't picked the president...that's wrong too. George W. won in 2000. If you mean they haven't picked a democrat president sense Carter, then you'd be right but Clinton has been the only democratic president sense then and Iowa was well before the "come back kid" thing happened.
