Mason Co 77 Pendleton Co 33

Well wouldn't that be the case for most people's starters? They are going to be playing a lot of minutes in the big games, regardless of how many people are on the team. It is no excuse for running the score up, which I'm not saying they are, because I haven't watched them play, and don't even know who they've played, etc. I'm just saying that everyone's starters have to be well-condtitioned and used to playing a lot of minutes....

I can assure you he is not running it up no more than mason did against pendleton or any other team that wins by 30 or 40. It was common for years

for Elliott to be beaten by 30, 40 and sometimes 50. Noone complained then.

The people who are doing all the bashing would be playing it about the same if they were in the same shoes. Its easy to sit back and pick someone apart when you dont have a dog in the race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Generally if a starter is in in the 4th, he sat out most of the second. My kid has played 3-4 minutes of the 4th a couple times, but when he did he sat out 5-6 of the 2nd!!!

To keep from winning by 30 or 40 he would have to sit the starters out for half the game. How conditioned would they be to playing a full game when the chips were down against a really good team. I have seen them score 40 in a quarter. In the 16th:D

That's what practice is for... conditioning. You can't always get it in games, especially if you're the starters in a blow-out.

Okay you guys win!!! Elliott has been convicted for the" Infamous run the score up scheme" I guess you will have to contact the supreme gurus of the sport and have us banned or something, because we definately can't have a small school that might just get lucky and compete, so they have to be ran out of town. GET EM BOY"S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I accused them of nothing. In fact, I previously stated that I know nothing of this team.. NOTHING. I'm just saying that most coaches use practices as the main form of conditioning....games, not so much. It helps, but not as much as conditioning practices.

For what it's worth, and I'm not defending coach Mays. Because personally I don't care for him, he has always played for the most part 7 or 8 kids. It wasn't an issue when they were getting their teeth kicked in. But know it's a big deal?? Give it a rest people. And since this is a Mason County thread congrats to the Royals and their fans

Yes, please. This is getting out of hand...

There is a big difference in practice conditioning and game conditioning.

Thats why no one wants a layoff during the holidays. You can practice everyday during the layoff and the team with equal talent who played

four or five games along with a few days of practice will be in better shape and more on their game first game back after layoff.

I understand that very well, believe me. I was just saying that you can't rely on games to get all of your starters significant conditioning all the time. For example, the game tonight. The starters only played about 10 minutes the whole game. Those 10 minutes, they played hard, but games like that won't really help them condition as well... it was probably more like practice. It takes a little bit of both to condtition your players well. Conditioning is not an excuse to leave starters in the entire game. (And I'm not referring to any particular team, just to clarify, before someone rips me apart!).

Well this all got started because everybody accused Elliott of doing that(leaving starters in whole game). I have posted more than once that they aren't. I know because my kid is a starter and I posted twice that he is only averaging 2 1/2- 2 3/4 quarters a game in the 16th. No one wants to believe that and let it go. They just keep on and I just keep on defending as would you if shoe was reversed and you had dog in race. For last time If a starter is in in the 4th odds are he sat out the second or if he was in most of second he was out most of 4th!! I know because I have every game Elliott has played in the last 4 years on video!!!

Believe me guys Coach O'Hearn was very gracious here.Mason played 15 players tonight 15 and almost all of them scored. The Starters didn't play 10 minutes of the entire game.Yes the 3 Freshman played the entire 4th and combined to score about 15 points. On to Brossart and the Elliott fan running his mouth in this thread has no idea what he/she is saying by saying Mason run up the score,But i believe your team makes a visit in about 5 weeks to Maysville so we will see then.Congrats Royals,And coach simms will get things going at PC if they give him time.

They scored 12 points.

The best way to correct this problem is play a tougher schedule. Why play those weak teams. Better schedules make better teams. This years MCIT is a bad set-up and playing all those teams in the 16th doesn't help a good team get better.:argue:

I was curious as to why there were so many posts about a 77-33 game. Because most of them aren't about the game!! As for the game, Mason County wipes the floor with the once powerful Wildcats. I did not attend and don't know how many PC fans did but good for them for sticking with their team. Tough times in Falmouth these days, they need all the support they can get.

If Simms is going to turn things around at PC he's going to need those kids to do a better job believing in him then what we've seen so far. Too many have quit at this point. For the ones left there are still some more demoralizing defeats to come. Any old 38th district (AHS, BCHS, DHS, PCHS) fans know the last time PC lost to Deming and Augusta in the same year? I don't and was curious.

As for the Elliott County schedule, I really don't think the coaching staff expected this team to be as dominant in the 16th this year. Their schedule reflects the scheduling as it has been done for the last umpteen years. I think that the schedule was "beefed" up this year compared to previous years past, but as we all can now see, some more "beefing" would probably have benefited. The boys from EC evidently must have really worked hard since last season because it's now showing. They played the same game (6-8 rotation) last year and were not really a clear cut favorite(no blowout expected) in any of their games. Maybe next year the scheduling will suit everyone, who knows? Last but not least, CONGRATULATIONS, MASON COUNTY on another win.
