Well, you cannot talk about top teams till you decide who has the best pitching.

I wouldn't expect the coaching change to have much of an impact at Harrison Co. They hired Christine Garnett to take over. She is a former player and has been an assistant there for the last few years. She will do fine. I've also heard that Gary Philpott, former assistant at Harrison and GRC, is coming out of retirement and is going to be helping out at Harrison this year. Can anyone confirm this? If so, he will be a great assest to a young, first year head coach.

I wouldn't be surprised in Mr. Philpott comes back to help. He's got a job now that would him allow him to do so.

Exactly right.....that is why Montgomery and GRC are #1 & #2 imo.

K.K. Oaks & Paige Compton at Montgomery

Amy Haggard at GRC

St. Patrick is still a very young team. Last year two sixth graders got some significant minutes later in the season. Those two plus some the good freshman pitcher and the other young players should make the next few seasons very exciting for St. Patrick fans.

Yes, they could make some noise in the 39th district tournament. They almost pulled off the upset last year against Mason County in the first round of district play, and Mason County loses 4 players off that team. The match-up between those 2 teams should be a good one.

I'm not sure about how Bracken County will be. I know they lost their ace pitcher in Milner, but I know they have a good, young pitcher this year to take her place. They should be good, as always.

Paige Compton & KK OAKS at Montgomery County Clearly led the pack when it comes to the pitching in the 10th. Paige as a freshman was throwing in the high 50's low 60's so as a sophomore you can only look for improvement. She has had lessons all winter. She stopped playing basketball to focus on softball. The sky is the limit for this young lady if she continues to improve. KK is a senior who has leadership qualities and can lead this team if needed with her accurate pitching. This should be a good rotation for coach Rison this year. If his bats are hot this year this will be a good year for Montgomery County.

I also need to add to the mix Erin Charles who has been throwing the ball great. They also have an 8th grader coming up Emily White who is lookig very good also. the future does look good for Montgomery County

I know no one has this team in the top 10 but I would not completely count them out, but Paris has a group of girls that have been together the last 2 years. They have one senior returning and a host of Juniors that have started varsity since 8th and 9th grade. Also, Emily Hinkson returns to the mound for her 4th year as starting pitcher. She has steadily improved and this team could sneak up on some people by season's end. She has over 200 strike outs last year and hit 2 homers, may suprise some teams.

You are correct she has improved alot and is a good pitcher. Paris will be more competative this year I'm sure. I 'm ready for it to start.

Excellent young lady and a very talented athlete!

What is Bourbon County bringing into play this year? They typically have some really nice ball players...

Tony Sosby always puts decent teams on the field. I think two of his bball players, Ivy and Elizabeth Stamper will come up big.

As for Hinkson and Paris, she is a good pitcher, teams find it hard to hit a lefty, Paris has always struggled on scoring runs. Hopefully they have some power hitters in the lineup.

Besides Hinkson, I'm not really sure how many power hitters they have? Last year I know they had Mary Plummer for awhile and I thought she did well hitting the ball.

Don't they have a lot of young players on this team, I am thinking 8th grade girls?

Elizabeth Stamper is a very decent ball player... I was told they have a pitcher that is awesome that is in the 8th grade. I don't know though if she is pitching varsity or jv?

They (BC) from what I was told, started a middle school team, and have some nice talent at the middle school level. It would be nice if Paris could do the same...

Very much agreed about Christine Garnett. She was a great softball player & don't think that will change as a coach. I hope she does great things over in Harrison Co.

I understand Campbell Co has a new coach. What will

be there season outlook?

"started a middle school team"

Boy wouldn't that be nice, every other sport has a middle school team, why not do a middle school fastpitch team. I grew up in a community that had summer leagues, although at that time it was slowpitch, but we couldn't wait till spring to sign up and play. When I moved to PC I signed my daughter up for summer league and just assumed it would be softball, to my surprise it was a co-ed baseball team. The summer recreation in PC tried to put a fastpitch summer league together but it only lasted a couple of years. We have had others in the community try to put together teams for the summer but they just don't seem to draw enough girls. Our high school team has even held clinics trying to get girls interested in playing the game. Maybe if it was a school sponsored sport more girls would come out. The only choice they have now is to tryout for the high school team and as a parent I did not like my daughter practicing with upperclassmen when she was in the 6th grade. I don't feel that there is enough training of the youngsters when the coaches have a varsity team to be concerned with.
