If this Kentucky team can win more than 6 games in the SEC, I would be amazed. This Kentucky team won't smell 20 wins...

And one of the players had a great quote. Listed all of his stats and achievements and said that if you don't think he can coach and aren't listening to him, you're nuts. Or something to that effect. He got out because he was fed up with the crap the UK...no the unrealistic UK fans were putting him through. Why stay where you are not wanted, nor appreciated. Give them what they want and go somewhere you are wanted. He runs the program into the ground and turns tail and runs. Sorry I can't support that.

January 5, 200818 yr really unbelievable What shape did he leave the program in? You think he left it in good shape? Better than when he took over? A huge benchmark for coaches that leave as program is how did he leave it. I know facts are hard to accept when there are emotions and feeling involved. But fact is he left and the program stinks. Believable now?

He has taken over a team in Minnesota that won 9 games last season and responded with a 10-2 start with the players that he inherited. In contrast, his successor at UK has put one of the worst UK teams in history on the court and the Tubby bashers continue to blame Tubby. Tubby would have won 20 games and taken the current UK team to the NCAA tournament again this season. Gillespie seems willing to party the nights away and let his supporters blame Tubby for his poor coaching job this season. I am beginning to dread watching UK play. That has never happened before - not even when a hung over Eddie Sutton was on the bench. I am looking forward to watching Minnesota play this season, Coaches like Tubby Smith do not grow on trees. It's good to see Tubby enjoying himself again. I enjoy watching well coached teams play and Minnesota is a well coached team.
January 6, 200818 yr What people forget is...if Tubby wanted to be at UK he would be coaching this year. He left on his own volition. You got that right.. Tubby knew exactly what this season was gonna be, and he had zero intentions of sticking around and getting run out of Lexington. He recruited all of these kids and he knew he would be overmatched and outplayed in every game. He got while the getting was good!

Yes, he's having a good year at Minnesota.............But he didn't recruit those kids either...........give him time, if he can run UK into the ground, imagine what he can do at a program like Minnesota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
