December 30, 200718 yr What people forget is...if Tubby wanted to be at UK he would be coaching this year. He left on his own volition. He left because he and his family had enough. He knew he couldn't win a National Championship every year at Kentucky, which so many expect.
December 30, 200718 yr He left because he and his family had enough. He knew he couldn't win a National Championship every year at Kentucky, which so many expect. He knew they would suck this year, and he left. He didn't have the guts to stay and try to fix what he broke. Who expects a NC every year? I'd love to see a quote from anyone associated with UK stating that. 1978-1996 was a pretty long time between NCs. How many coaches did UK go through in that span? Tubby left on his own accord. Tubby left the program in shambles. Tubby went to his kind of program. One where there are no expectations.

The same cannot be said about his successor in Lexington.
December 31, 200718 yr Then he is certainly exceeding those expectations. The same cannot be said about his successor in Lexington. Yep he is tallest of the midgets. Hmm. stay at UK, one of the highest profile programs in the country, and try to right the ship I have run aground. Or jump ship like a rat. What a guy.
December 31, 200718 yr I think Tubby should but his name in for the next President of the US..... If he do make these kind of miracles happen for Minnesota then imagine what he could do for a whole entire country..... Tubby is the man.... Did Tubby lose to teams like Gardner-Webb or San Diego?? He is beating every team that he should minus the loss from a good Florida State team. If I was a Kentucky fan I would much rather have Tubby on the side lines than ole Billy G. But of course Kentucky fans know it all when it comes to Tubby, but did one of his teams start of 5-6? I don't think any of Tubby's teams had to worry about not making the NCAA tournament...

What a guy.Minnesota still has a legitimate shot at an NCAA bid. How many times did Tubby fail to take UK to the tournament? The 'Cats chances aren't looking too good right now after the Tubby haters prompted him to move to greener pastures.

Anyone that believes he was forced out by fans, doesn't have a clue. He knew a disaster was on the horizon and he ran. Whats so hard to understand about that?
December 31, 200718 yr Minnetonka. Greener pastures? Anyone that believes he was forced out by fans, doesn't have a clue. He knew a disaster was on the horizon and he ran. Whats so hard to understand about that?Nothing hard to understand - the Tubby haters wanted him gone. Billy Clyde's unexpectedly poor coaching job this season has spoiled their celebration. To make matter's worse, the Tubster is sailing along with a 10-1 record and is obviously enjoying life the Land 'o Lakes.
December 31, 200718 yr Minnetonka. Greener pastures? Anyone that believes he was forced out by fans, doesn't have a clue. He knew a disaster was on the horizon and he ran. Whats so hard to understand about that? Disaster in the fan base... Yes you are right about that.
December 31, 200718 yr Disaster in the fan base... Yes you are right about that. Thanks. And he ran. What a guy.

Or just read the NY Times article. Donna says he looks healthier. He is coaching. And one of the players had a great quote. Listed all of his stats and achievements and said that if you don't think he can coach and aren't listening to him, you're nuts. Or something to that effect. He got out because he was fed up with the crap the UK...no the unrealistic UK fans were putting him through. Why stay where you are not wanted, nor appreciated. Give them what they want and go somewhere you are wanted.
December 31, 200718 yr Minnetonka. Greener pastures? Anyone that believes he was forced out by fans, doesn't have a clue. He knew a disaster was on the horizon and he ran. Whats so hard to understand about that? Disaster? He won with pretty much the same team.
