Giants/Pats Game On CBS and NBC

Featured Replies

The New England Patriots' shot at history Saturday night will be available for every household in the country with a television after months of wrangling.

The game against the New York Giants, in which the Patriots could become the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season, was originally scheduled to be shown only on the NFL Network, which is available in fewer than 40 percent of the nation's homes with TVs.

But the league announced Wednesday that the NFL Network feed will be simulcast on NBC and CBS. It's a major concession by league officials, who repeatedly said they would not show the game anywhere but the NFL Network. The NFL had faced mounting pressure from politicians in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.

This is a smart move by Roger. This will be great PR for the NFL.

Gotcha. I don't pay too much attention to those little quirks. :thumb:

BTW, this gives the other 60% of the nation a chance to experience how awful Gumbel is....

Fox apparently felt it can pull better numbers with two Cops reruns and a new America's Most Wanted. :sssh:

Nice going, Rupert.

Yeah, but then why include NBC? By that logic, CBS should have gotten the game by itself.

Just a guess, but I bet NBC has some kind of clause in their deal about weekend primetime games. Let them both show it, and no worries...

Maybe ...

Whaddya bet nobody outside of central Penn and College Station, Texas, will watch the Alamo Bowl now? Execs at The Worldwide Leader have to be tearing their hair out.

Yeah, CBS should have negotiated to be able to use their own announcers.

A little bit surprised but a good move.

ABC let the NFL know how important their product was to them when they let MNF go to cable (ESPN). This might be, in part, a way to stick it to them.

Who knows? :jump:

A nice move by the NFL, but that comment sums it up best for me.

At least John Kerry is good for something. :sssh:

Roger has done an outstanding job in his first year! I had the game for Sat but I think it was a great move for the NFL to change the game. Once again they show why they are the best of the Pro Sports organizations!
