Penny does not have to score in close. But why would you shoot from outside if you can beat every single person who cards you off the dribble and just about dunk it on the big boys down low? I also know that Penny can shoot from outside. Last year i saw him hit two buzzer beaters, one of them to win a game.

 

Very rarely does he hit a jumper. It's not me you need to convince. He's a solid high school player without a doubt.

 

Minnis is a player that does not get much exposure, but that is changing. Should be a good game coming up with Anderson and Shelby.

I have not forgotten Gallatin. I have them in the final four. If they get beyond that point, it would take an upset.

I agree Gallatin is a good team. I know Wildcat fans are still referencing last year's win versus Shelby in the regional tournament but that was a very different Shelby team and not nearly as good as this year's. Anderson has a big bruising team with CJ Penny who has the ability to dominate. I think Oldham and Gallatin would have to be neck and neck right now. Oldham has a very nice player in Dunlap and an active body in Payne. Gallatin has their, "me against everyone" attitude to draw from which could help them to some good wins.

I agree with what you are saying 100% If you let Penny get his points, you can stop the other players. Shelby will have to much for other teams, but I still can't count out Oldham. It will depend on the draw this year. If Shelby and Anderson get match'd up early, I would bet Oldham will win, but If Shelby gets on the other side of the bracket, they will win. It just all depends.

 

Shelby and Anderson would not be matched up unless in the finals.

I have to disagree with Shelby. I saw their game against Grant County at the Henry County Invitational and wasn't impressed at all. I know they beat Highlands at their place, but you will have to give me more than Minnis. Sanford can hit the three, but Grant outscored Shelby in the second half of that game. Just my opinion.

Shelby was up on Grant 28-3 before the varsity was pulled in the first half and them played sporadically for the rest of the game. You could tell that Shelby was completely bored with that game. They have beaten Highlands (+18), Eastern (+5), Bullitt East (+29); all of whom were undefeated at the time. Using that game to judge Shelby isn't fair because that is going to happen to teams when they play other teams not in their class. Shelby has more athletes and basketball players than any other team in the region. If you look at the KHSAA they only give up 50 points a game and are averaging int he mid 60's. I just don't think any other team in the region would be 10-0 at this point in the season playing their same schedule.

i saw Anderson play last year and they were quick and physical, and to my knowledge didn't lose a whole lot...since they won at Shelby does this make them the front runner for the 8th or do most of you still think Gary Forrest is too much to handle????

I think this win puts them on top of the 8th Region.

Penney isn't tough to defend in terms of winning against Anderson. He takes the majority of the shots for Anderson and will get his average of points. Around 95% of his points come from around the bucket or getting a pass on the break. He is a decent athlete and rebounder.

 

Minnis can score in a multitude of ways, from the arc, drive, and out on the break. Quickness is a huge asset. Shelby has more scorers and Minnis still gets his points. Shelby is undefeated. Anderson just dropped two game in the KOB. Minnis does not get the press, but is a gamer more than Penney at this point. And that's not taking anything away from Penney either.

I know SC has players that can at least slow Penny down...i dont think Anderson will have anybody that can do the same to Minnis.

I think this thread has all but died since Friday for some reason. No one has come on to reasess thier previous posts. I guess Anderson Co has shocked some into reality.

Anderson's convincing win over Shelby Friday night showed that they are not a "One Man" team. Penny sat out most of the second quarter in foul trouble. Jacob Russell and Will Ruggles are good young players who are only going to get better by district time. Good win by the Bearcats!!
