My brother and I get a new ornament every year and my mom tends to find a way to put more and more lights on the tree each year.

 

About the same with us. We have lights in unopened boxes from years ago.

Those things were unique all right. But they were dangerous too! I remember one time, my grandpa accidentally wired the manger scene up to it. Exploded four sheep, severely burned two kings, and blacked out every house for three blocks.

Somehow Henry I pictured your tree to have alot of blue and white lights with 17 large ornaments.

 

Wait till next year, we're renovating. All the bluebird ornaments are going on a special blue and white tree that a friend gave me and it has matching garlands.:dancingpa

 

As for the handmade kids ornaments and the Christoper Radkos, they are going on the same old awkward live tree we get but all the old fashioned bulbs are going to be blue and white old fashioned bulbs.

 

Actually had the obnoxious blue and white X-mas deco up this year for the play-offs and even the kids were wondering why I was taking them down to put up the usual Christmas stuff. That's when you know it's time to just change it up and go with the flow. Next year we'll have a "Blue Christmas":banana:

:laugh: I am glad they invented flame retardant trees now. My grandfather had a nine foot tree he bought in the 70's. 9-10 feet tall, can remember it well. Starting in the late nineties it seemed to get shorter, never really knew why. That is until my mother told me he was sawing off the bottom of the tree before he would put it up each year! It ended up being 6 1/2 feet tall before my mom bought a rotating tree for him :lol:

 

Has anyone ever heard of the inverted tree or the fiber optic trees that have come out recently?

You know, now that you mention it, their's might have rotated too. I was thinking that originally, but decided it was a figment of my imagination.

Our tree is great. It has stuff from when PH was a child on it, plus, stuff that we have purchased together. My favorite is my christal angels. I also love the items that the children have made when they were in school. With 13 girls, you can only imagine! LOL LOL. Our tree holds a lot of memories. We talk about each ornament that we place on the tree. It takes a couple of days to decorate because of this!

Oh wow! My Nana had one too, and I had forgotten all about it. I don't think I ever heard any strange radio transmissions, but I do remember the whirring and clicking noises the color wheel made.

I have my beautiful, classy 11 foot tree in my living room. Then I have my equally beautiful kids' tree in the family room, with crazy blinking colored lights and all their hand-made ornaments.

I don't have a tree up this year. I put up a small fake one. We are in the process of moving so I couldn't find a good safe place to put it.

OK, Just wanted to know if anyone elses parents did this on Christmas. Back in the 50's and 60's when my brothers and I were little, my parents told us that Santa brought the tree and gifts. Hence, my parents would not put up the X-mas tree until Christmas Eve after we had gone to bed. :scared::scared::scared::scared:

 

 

 

Never thought a thing about it until I had kids. Unbelievable. I wouldn't be able to function for the next 3 days.
