16.3. in his 3 games he has had 13 18 and 18.

Good win for Campbell! Brossart is just to young and skill level is down! Congrats Campbell though.

What was the streak?

 

Was it 7 years or 7 games? I heard Mr. Strong say that the last time he remembered was the finals of the district tourney in 2002 when BBHS upset PC at PC in the semi and the Camels won and went on to regional as winner.

Have the times changed in Alexandria?

Great hire by the CC school system.

Now they have to do a better job then their counterparts at promoting their team.

 

You may be right in this being a great hire for CCHS. Reitz is tough to replace, but I think we have found the man.

What was the streak?

Brossart had won six in a row, dating back to March 1st, 2002, when Campbell County beat Brossart 67-57 in the district finals that year, played at Pendleton County.

 

We had also won six consecutive "Crosstown Classics" dating back to December 8th, 2001.

 

It was a good run and was a lot of fun.

 

Tonight Campbell County was clearly the superior team, and handled our "not quite ready for prime time" Mustangs.

 

Scott Code has instilled his guys with a more effective defensive system, but also had the better athletes on the floor tonight.

 

Someone used the term "Offensively Challanged" in reference to these Mustangs, and at the moment that is pretty much correct. 34 points against St. Henry and now 25 against Campbell County clearly says that we are going to have to put points on the board to go along with our defense to get wins this season.

 

I'm glad to see that we have earned so much respect over the years and that folks think that we can automatically compete just because we are Brossart. Unfortunately, that's a bit unfair to this group of guys with no varsity playing experience who are going to have to compete where they can this year and then next year return the majority of our varsity starters for more realistic Brossart type competition. Two of our top players, Armstrong and Rieger, were playing freshmen basketball one year ago tonight. The others were playing JV ball.

 

We have one way to go and that is up. Maybe we will see the Camels again in the District. They will run the scoreboard back to Zeros and we will try again.

21 point blowout that could have been worse. Albrecht missed most of the game due to a bloody nose but when he was in he was a dominating force. Nerl had stellar game putting up 18 points and around 8 blocks (seriously) one of which made Joe Webb cry. Nerl had a great defensive night all around with his 8 blocks and a few steals. Huge win for the camels, brossart never had a chance.:dancingpa

Your team won, apparently for the first time in quite a while; but this type of talk won't endear your team to the NKY fans, if you truely are back?? Win with class--Lose with class!! I guarentee Scott Code wouldn't be proud of this type of "support" from his fans??

Nice win for the Camels. It will be interesting to see them play the Wildcats twice this year.

Yes, and I believe in more than just basketball. They lost some really good athletes to graduation. And right now I don't see it changing for a while.

 

Incorrect, Brossart has a solid junior class and a very, very good sophomore class...

And then put in St. Peter and Paul

s 8th grade team (who beat CCMS today), St. Mary's 7th and 6th grade class, they will be good for a while after this year...

Just because CCHS got their first win in seven years doesn't mean Brossart's going to be down for a while.

You obviously either don't fully understand the rivalry or you are a Brossart fan. A losing streak like that being broken brings out alot of emotion. Not to mention the trash that the Brossart fans/players talked after the game. Saying that we got lucky and it won't happen again. Most Brossart fans/players cant accept the fact that they got beaten by a better team, and that they aren't on top anymore. That usually breeds from having a weak schedule that makes you believe your better than you are.:argue:

Since you've chosen me to :argue: with, I guess I better respond?? I too know many fans on both sides, as well as with other district rivals of both teams. None, again none of them expected Brossart to win the game, and most doubted they could keep it under double digits--They just lost too much and return too little experience!! The prediction thread had zero folks pick the Mustangs, and most thought it would be a game in the mid to high teens. I went simply because it's a great atmosphere and a fun game which approximates a district/regional tourney game.

 

How could anyone argue that the Camels "got lucky"? They had the game in hand from start to finish as expected. Every BB fan I talked to conceded that the Camels were the better team this year, and deserved to win. They (and I) expect them to be back in the next couple years, and I would suspect Campbell to improve as well. You just can't give Scott Code 800 boys to chose from and not expect long term success??

 

The only thing I would really :argue: with you about is your comment regarding Brossart's easy schedule?? My friend you've just shown complete lack of understanding of basketball and the history of NKY hoops with that statement. The last ten years I'd argue no single A team in the area, and few in the state, have played the caliber of opponents that the Mustangs have played. The 10th region opponents alone in recent years would qualify your statement as ridiculous?? Mason County, Clark County, Pendleton County, Covington Catholic, Lexington Catholic, NCC, Holy Cross, the Fifth Third Classic, Ashland Invitational, Bluegrass/Buckeye, etc. year in, year out. If I had time I'd go back and probably prove they've played far tougher schedules than Campbell.

 

Again hats off to Campbell for breaking a streak that obviously had bothered them significantly, but let's keep it in perspective--They beat a small local school in a total rebuilding mode--Nothing more, nothing less?? :confused:

I liked what I saw from their freshman team as well, but you're right they should have a good upside. They need to buy into the coach's system and continue to play unselfeshly and they'll be fine!!

Um, no offense, but you are wrong. Like way, way wrong... I seriously doubt anyone ever said that, Brossart fans know we're down this year...
