December 6, 200718 yr Get your degree! I have friends that have been successful not graduating college but not nearly as many as I have that did graduate college. My best friend growing up is a great example. He made good coin doing construction (his dad owned a solid company). He hurt his back so he got into coal mines and made a fortune on them BUT he has 3 kids + a stay at home wife. He is really having a tough time right now and trying to start school online (we are 33). I always looked at having a degree like an insurance policy plus a ticket to get a lot of jobs I wouldn't have a shot at if I didn't have it. I pushed myself on while I was working to get my Master's because I wanted to live an exciting life and be able to give to my family. My undergrad was too much fun but I was on a full ride (leadership scholarship) and I knew I had my whole life to work. Trust me I had about as much fun as you could in college and still get by. I pushed myself in my Master's classes. I was working, had a little girl at home, coaching etc. It wasn't easy nor fun but I knew it would pay off if I made the sacrifice. I now have a dream job and have some great fall back plans. No way would those opportunities be there for me if I didn't push myself even when I didn't feel like it. Maybe some of my mom's best advice was when she told me "college is an endurance test." I'm not saying you can't do great things without a degree but it sure is nice to have that insurance plan! I agree networking can be HUGE! You have to get the mind set that you are going to whip college if you go back. You can't be on the fence and half do it or it will be misrable. Really only you know what is best for you but I've seen too many of my childhood friends kick themselves for not finishing school! Thats why I want to go back because I would like to have more options when it comes to finding a job and a degree seems to be the one of the main things that give you those options. It wouldnt be so hard if I didnt hate going to school, but I just dont care for it to much. I guess this is just one of those things where I just need to suck it up and deal with it and know that its in my best interest to finish up.
December 6, 200718 yr I would say go back to school. I think we have had this conversation before. It sucks but I am going to have to go back and pretty much start from scratch at 21. At least you have 2 years done. After our previous talks I wouldnt have expected that answer from you. I'll believe you about going back when I see it. You said a while ago that you were going back but never have yet.
December 6, 200718 yr Go back to school. It was the best seven years of my life. I have a cousin who just finished up and he is 28. He had a ton of credits but not enough of the ones he needed for his major. I told him they should just let him go thru a catalogue and pick out a degree or two that he wanted with all his credits.

At Morehead at the time; it took 128 credits to graduate. This guy would get close to fulfilling degree requirements for a major, then would change majors. MSU finally gave him a degree in "University Studies"; he had something like 212 credits at the time.
