Hey Scatbackskin22, I'm not sure I was one of the Highlands folks that you spoke with (probably not, as you describe the Highlands folks you spoke with as being nice people.....I had to put that in there before someone else did:D), but I had a great conversation with some folks from the mountains that were sitting near us on the visitors side. They were really nice people and knew a lot about football.

 

I know that some folks from the mountains have the preconceived notion that folks from N. Ky think poorly of them, but from my experience nothing could be further from the truth. Maybe because we sit right next door to Cinti and those dang Buckeyes are continuing looking down at us, we tend not to do the same to others. Maybe its because we see the mountains and the proud folks that live there as a big part of our Ky heritage. Maybe its because a fair number of folks up here have relatives in the mountains. I don't know for sure why it is.

 

The issue probably gets a little overblown on here. Personnally I think the fans of the mountain schools like to play the "lack of respect card" a lot as a motivational ploy. How could any knowledgeable Highlands fan not have respect for mountain teams like Belfry, Bell and Rockcastle, to name just three that we have struggled with from time to time?

 

 

Anyway, thanks for the nice words about our fans. We tend to get a little full of ourselves on this site as its easy to get a bit out of control sitting at a key board. Plus some things we type can be taken out of context. But as people get to meet Highlands fans in person, they find that for the most part we are pretty nice folks and are pretty knowledgeable about the game. Take care and best wishes.

 

After my latest visit to Ft. Thomas, I realize that Highlands is a "mountain" school itself. From being East of I-75 to the local terrain, Highlands has more in common with the "moutain" schools than any others.

It is kind of mountainous around here. But our real estate agents prefer to refer to it as "gently rolling hills."

 

In fact, I can think of only one (almost) level road in town, and that would be Ft. Thomas Avenue.

I noticed it also. Good job BF. Time to break out the super sticky duct tape. Hopefully Henry will make her sign pick up today and there will be a lot more Go Birds signs in town over the next couple of days.
