Kentucky regular season

Featured Replies

I don't think they are a top 5 team.

5 teams I like over LSU.

1. Ohio State

2. West Virginia

3. Oklahoma

4. Kansas

5. Missouri

LSU would beat 3 of those teams without much of a fight IMO....WVU and OU would both give them a good game.

Just think if UK lost to LSU. The Cats would be sitting at 6-6. :scared:

Just think if they'd lost to Louisville, LSU, EKU, Kent State, Arkansas, Florida Atlantic, and Vanderbilt... They'd be winless... :p

I didn't mean for OSU to be ahead of everyone else. That list is in no order.

Would App. State give them a good game??

6-1 and finished 7-5 is a disappointment, because of where they were after 7 games.

But look at the season as a whole, and go back to what many predicted and forecasted against a tough schedule.

Hopefully, they are building a program that will last...

I give them B for the year.

Before the season I had said that it would be a very good bet that U.K. would be better with a worse record than last year just bc of the tougher ooc and the same always brutal SEC.

I picked them a 5-7 or 6-6 so I guess they exceeded my expectations. I'll give them a B- (the (-) just bc of the way they finished).

Hopefully the Cats can continue to build on the sucsess/momentum of the last two seasons and keep improving. U.K. football still has a long way to go but not as long as a few years ago.

For Kentucky I would give the first semester an A+ and second semster a D+, average them together and get a B- for the season. Above average but not excellent. I think how I rate this team will depend on if they win their bowl game. If they win the season was a success. If they lose I would consider it below average for what could have been.

Many were predicting a 5-7 or a 4-8 season. I think that a 7-5 season (with a couple close losses), getting back to a bowl and knocking off two top 10 teams on the way gives them a grade of A-.

But what about a 14-31 loss to Miss. State at home on homecoming? If UK doesn't lose to Miss. State and they go 8-4, then yes I could see the A-. I give them a C for the year. The slow finish killed the Cat's.

But what if they beat MSU and lost to LSU? They would still be sitting at the same record and their resume wouldn't look nearly as good. Woulda, coulda, shouldas - doesn't matter. What matters is that this team (who admittedly did fall apart down the stretch) went above and beyond preseason expectations. That in and of itself deserves a A-.

Also, any other year, the MSU loss would be pretty tough to take. But this year MSU is a solid, bowl-eligible ballclub.

Uk started great and finished a bit slow but, they were never really embarrassed and there are some good football teams in the SEC this year. Take away that Mississippi State loss and I say the CATS represented the Bluegrass State very well. I am proud of this team and I wish the Seniors well as they prepare for life after college football. The quick start to the season gave a lot of exposure to some Wildcat players that would not have been noticed in year's past. Having the College Gameday crew there and being ranked for a while helped the team out tremendously in my opinion.
