IMHO Frankfort and LCA are on a collision course. LCA takes care of business on John Elway-esque 2 minute drill and a last second field goal to win.

I'm torn. I have mixed feelings on who I want to win this game, and all of them are positive. I will be happy whomever makes it to Papa Johns.

 

On the one hand, I'd like to see Hazard win and move on to the big show. They are a talented bunch and they are a local team who have paid their dues and improved each of the last several years. They are now legitimate in 1A football as a threat to win it all.

 

On the other hand, I know one of Belfry's own is coaching at LCA. Mark Carroll was a standout player for the Pirates and is one heck of a great guy. He is coaching at LCA with Coach Rains, one of the best coaches and classiest men coaching in the state of Ky. They have built LCA into a great team on the statewide level also in just a few years. So for Mark's case I'd like to see them win it all and have a chance to shine.

As far as my pick, I think LCA will pull out a close one.

As Watusi said before, I am glad that the winner of this one wil be playing for a state championship. Raceland was a two minute drive and winning LCA FG away from being in this one but as they say..."close only counts in horseshoes ad hand grenades". I will be pulling for our (Raceland's) district and LCA but certainly respect what the Hazard program has done this sseason.

I have to go with Hazard however, after seeing them first hand last week. We did not play our best game and they took advantage of our miscues. Hazard has the total package to run the table. I didn't realize that Coach Rains had stepped down :confused:

LCA will not be travelling 3 hours to the game.

 

I believe they will not have 6 turnovers or myriad penalties this game.

 

I also don't believe that Coach Rains showed Hazard his entire playbook, either.

Wow...a 40+ point turnaround? That's huge.

My logic was actually proved in reverse last week when LCA and Pikeville played. If you watch the film of that game there was no way that LCA was that much better than Pikeville, but the Panthers costly mistakes, namely turnovers turned what would have been a close game into a blowout.

 

LCA made the looong trip to hazrad in the first meeting, and then proceeded to kill themselves with penalties and turnovers. I expect, playing at home, with the past game in the back of their minds, that this will be a much closer game.

 

The rpessure is on the Bulldogs in this one, not so much the Eagles.

 

I don't really buy the bolded. Both of these teams are one game away from a trip to Louisville...I think the pressure is on them both.

 

I expect a close game that could go either way.

I believe Hazard will prevail in a close one tonight. Our coach is teriffic and he has our team well prepared to do battle.
