24-48 hours and then it is time to start again.

Sometimes it feels like someone has died when it ends.

 

I have never even come close to having that feeling. Not even close.

It's not much fun when it's all over for them.

 

The games don't seem near as much fun when they're done, even if it is your alma mater that is playing. The edge is not there near as much.

Having played collegiately, and having had a son play as well, its just not the same. The last time football is pure is in H.S. In college it became a job, and you really play for 2 different teams, offense vs. defense. Heck there were times I didn't even know starters on the other side of the ball. In HS you play for your buddy, your colors, your town.In the time I spent professionally it was more everybody for yourself, and what team play occurs is an extension of one's self. So enjoy HS while you have it, experience the richness of belonging to a team in the purest sense of the word, and hang on to the memories!
