November 29, 200718 yr I agree completely. Totally life-altering, in a great way! One eye is 20/20 and the other is 20/15. I would do it over again without hesitation. This is from someone that had worn contacts from the age of 11. The best part for me was going to the pool or beach and being able to wear cute sunglasses, not dorky perscription ones (no offense to anyone who wears dorky perscription ones), and not being blind! Not only could I identify which child was mine, but I looked good doing it! Good luck, Scarface, you'll be so glad you did it! I'm a giant chicken when it comes to anything involving eyes, but it was not bad at all. See that's what I want the most, I'm kinda a fish, love cliff diving, boating, swimming under water all that fun stuff. But with contacts it takes about half the fun out of all those activities. And if you lose one while you're playing it pretty much immediately puts you in a ticked off mood.
November 29, 200718 yr As a former competitive swimmer, I've lost more contacts in the pool than I care to count. Nowadays, I like to run a lot and Lasik makes it so much better. Unfortunately I'm not one of those dewy perspiring girls when I exercise, I get pretty sweaty and it runs in my eyes. My contacts used to fog up and get all sticky, now I don't have to worry about it. I remember my husband and I went snorkeling on our honeymoon and I was afraid to wear my contacts. Well, those pretty colored blobs swimming below me were quite beautiful I'm sure, but I couldn't see any details! I'm so happy to no longer need glasses or contacts! Go for it--you will not regret it!
November 29, 200718 yr Author Like I said, I was afraid the doc would not allow me to get the surgery for the reason of me hardly ever taking my contacts out. I knew/know it is very damaging to your eyes to not take your contacts out to clean them and what not but I have such bad allergies that when I take my contacts out, my eyes hurt so badly that I just don't want to deal with it so I just leave them in until they eventually fall out on their own. I know, I know, not very smart of me but that's what I do. I swam in them, went to the beach in them, etc. So I was ecstatic when he said I was a good candidate for the surgery.
November 29, 200718 yr Have you ever had it done? NO Do you know of someone who has had it done? My wife has had the surgery Did it hurt? she said no pain Do you see 20/20 right after surgery? she now has 20/15 vision almost as good as mine. How long does the surgery take? I think it was less than an hour.

Dude that's me to a T, allergies and everything. When switching out my contacts sometimes it would hurt bad enough to wear I'd literally have to sit down. You're doing a good job of advertising right now.

November 29, 200718 yr A friend of mine who wanted the surgery had to leave her contacts out for a couple of weeks and wear her glasses. As it turns out, she was not a candidate.
April 1, 200818 yr Just had this done last week. However, I had the LASEK or also know as PRK. You should know that the lower end pricing is not for custom surgery and more for those that do not need extensive correction. For me, the PRK was the best decision. I needed alot of correction. Of course, it will take a little longer to get the clear vision. I could read the sign in the exam room right after my surgery, but things are still a little blurry. It's clearing up more each day. The procedure itself was painless. I have had some irritation but the drops they give you worked well. I anticipate it is well worth the money I spent.

April 1, 200818 yr Had my eyes done 4 years ago by Dr. Vincent Marino at Lasik Plus in Kenwood, OH. Best thing I have ever done. They had 3-4 different procedures available and I only qualified for the lowest cost because I had thin corneas.I went in expecting to pay 5K. Cost about 1700.00 total at the time and could see perfectly the next day after surgery. I had very poor vision... had -6.50 contacts if I remember right.. could not drive or read without contacts... and now have perfect vision at 40 years old. I would highly recommend this to anyone that has had to live with glasses or contacts as I had since the age of 10.
April 1, 200818 yr Just checked my contact prescription and it's an -8.50 in my worst eye and been wearing glasses and/or contacts since the 4th grade. My insurance plan gave me a discount so the total was around $2500 for both eyes. Remember this was a custom correction. I live in Northern Kentucky and went to my regular eye doctor, Tri-State Centers for Eyes. They did the procedure right in their Thomas More Pkwy office. The worst is not being able to drive. The best part....I can get rid of that darn alarm clock that has 4 inch numbers that light up the entire room. :dancingpa
April 3, 200818 yr It's been one week and finally my vision is starting to really clear up. The doctor says that's normal for the type of correction procedure I had done. Hopefully tomorrow they will take the protective contact lenses off and I can finally drive.
