According to this official Ark photo (circa 6000 bc or so), there were in fact polar bears on the ark.

 

 

My favorite is the "Far Side" cartoon where Noah stands next to two guilt looking lions and 8 legs and 2 horns are sticking up.

Oh, I've got a theory, I'm just waiting for a better point in the discussion to unveil it . . .

 

Perhaps the flood began BEFORE all animals were aboard, and God instructed Noah to navigate the Ark to various distant locations before all the lands were completely submerged so that he could gather the rest of the animals that did not board initially.

I'm assuming if God created the Earth and all the animals on it, he wouldn't have any trouble relocating them in a pinch.

Very true, but scripture says he commanded Noah to do it. I don't think God was going to do Noah's work for him, or he also would have built the Ark in a pinch, too.
