I am actually looking at the KSP now. I have been called by several KSP Recruiters. I have some family friends that were a KSP member back in the day and one who is good friends with the comm of the KSP. I am trying to find out the training dates right now.

 

Cameraman- I was told the best thing you can do is know a KSP employee and have them refer you.

Does anyone know if you can enroll into the KSP Academy by yourself? Or do you have to be hired by a police agency and they put you in it?

 

Pretty sure you have to be hired... one of my best friends just graduated I am pretty sure he said they were all contracted out to departments. Heck, some departments would give them a care for the drive down...

I think there's a guy on here that works as a police officer. That is, when he's not on the computer.

Im sure you could always get a job with the Cincinnati PD. Although you couldn't pay me enough to do that job.

I recently retired from the KSP. The pay is a lot better now than when I started. I wouldn't recomend it for everybody, but it did raise my two sons and is now providing me with a good retirement. Its a good job.

I'm a social worker in Ashland and frequently work with KSP Troopers and Detectives. I have the utmost respect for the job they do!!!!
