Heisman Race

^ Don't put Chuck in there....he was a sexy pick...but obviously 1-2 from that year have done very well with themselves....

Some players that it did work out right:

Carson Palmer, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Barry Sanders, Desmond Howard, Tim Brown, Paul Hornung

I said it at the beginning of the season and I'll say it again....Matt Ryan is going to be the best pro out of the QBs in this year's draft.

If it weren't for his injury Mike Hart would have it wrapped up IMO....At this point I'd give it to Dixon.

Matt Ryan has SHOWN why he won't be the best pro....he's solid, but I see a Brad Johnson out of him....Dixon may actually win it this year, but still be the 4th or 5th QB drafted.

It's Dixon's to lose. He is more exciting, and makes more plays than Ryan.

I'd say it's about 50/50 in recent history on the best player winning...

And the bolded makes my point...no way people with real football knowledge thought Charles Woodson was better than Peyton Manning. The difference...Woodson's team was undefeated and rated #1 or #2 and he had some "Heisman Moments" where he made big plays in big games...that's my whole point. There is way more involved in winning the Heisman than just being the best player, so when people discount a guy like Matt Ryan by saying (Insert Player Name) is better, it's just being naive. It doesn't work that way and everyone familiar with the award knows it...

...that's why right now, Matt Ryan is the front-runner. He's got the best moment, a come-from-behind win @ VaTech, good stats, and he's the best player and leader on the undefeated and #2 ranked team.

That trumps any statistical advantage that Tebow or Dixon might have right now...not to mention the disadvantage of west coast (Oregon) vs. east coast (BC) that Dixon has to overcome.

Tebow is out.....let them lose another game and still keep his name in it....that would give him 4 losses...and there is a much better Qb that also has 4 losses.

I think the front runner now is Dixon.

But don't count out Brohm or Rice. A bad team is not a killer for a heisman. Paul Hornung won the Heisman while at Notre Dame, and his Irish team stunk. He beat out the likes of John Brodie, Johnny Majors and some dude named Jim Brown.

You're talking about a half a lifetime ago. Being on a bad team now does, unfortunately place you out of the running. It has been like that for the last 15 years or so.
