Russell 35 Raceland 14

Featured Replies

No one from Raceland that I have read was complainig that the penalties were one sided or that Raceland had recieved bad calls.

All comments that I saw were made in reference to the fact that Raceland's penalties hurt them (especially the same ones over and over) and stopped several drives. No complaining about the calls here.

I don't know if that was what anyone was trying to get at or not by some of the post/comments.

I have no problem agreeing with that but Russell had about as many penalties and yardage so the argument could be made that it hurt them as well. IMO the penalties were a wash.

I think the 3 Raceland turn overs late in the game were from possibly trying to force things to happen that were not there.

Raceland played tough the first half and all in all I thought it was an entertaining game.

Noone from either school has said anything about recieving bad calls or the officiating being one sided.

Stating facts about the game that contradict some statements earlier in the thread about turnovers and penalties seeming only to cost Raceland seems to have ruffled a few feathers though.

It is a fact that turnovers were almost even (Raceland 2 Russell 1)until late in the game when Russell got the big lead. It is also a fact that Russell was penalized almost as many times as Raceland and for more yards.

Might I refer you to post #37 and #41. See ya, have at it and spin to whatever you want to make out of it.:laugh::laugh::banana::banana::banana::laugh::laugh::thumb::thumb:

You might. But I don't have to spin the truth.:thumb::thumb::thumb:;)

I do apologize if I made it seem like Raceland made all the penalties or didnt want to win that game. I just wanted to evaluate what I personally thought would make Raceland come back and be better for the next game. Tackling was one and penalties was another. No complaining about officiating or cheating at all on my part. I want to see this team go as far as it can and there is no doubt in my mind playing a bigger school makes a smaller school better. I told the lady that offered me the coffee well we all made it out safe and now we can concentrate on our teams getting to Louisville.

I think Raceland will do well in the playoffs. They have two solid RBs that run hard and break tackles. They swarm to the ball on defense and play very hard as team.

They just as well could have trouble with a pretty good Fairview team.

:thumb::thumb: O.K., no problem and I was just stessing that I or other Raceland fans were not complaining about bad calls - they were legit calls I a sure and was just aggrivated that they were having them. :thumb:

I enjoyed the game very much last night. I loved the atmosphere, the food was good and I thought both teams played with heart and intensity. I thought the fans from both sides and the teams showed great sportsmanship. There is one thing that upset me though. I thought some of the signs on the bleachers on the home side and the ones the team passed under as they ran on the field were insulting and inappropriate I understand the kids doing this but I am surprised at the Raceland administration for allowing it.:confused:

Congrats, Devils on a great win and good luck to you and the Rams as you both approach playoffs. It seemed that Raceland lost their momentum and imo started the 2nd half without focus, thus the offsides penalties that put them at 2nd and long. Win or lose, this was a great community effort and both AD's should be commended for all their hard work.

We noticed the same thing and also made the exact same comment. If the Devil did that with the pitch fork it would hurt.

I too was very proud and impressed with the sportsmanship that was shown on the field last night. Numerous times players were helping other players after plays. I saw Terry and Foster (both 53's) lock horns during a play and then after the whistle help each other up. Then at the end of the game I purposely watched each player during handshakes and saw several kids give not just handslaps but hugs as well. :thumb::thumb:

Enough about the signs, and other off the field stuff. The discussion needs to stay about the game played on the field, or this thread will be closed. Some have already been suspended for violating rules, let's not have any others.

Congratulations Russell ... another great win.

my apologies LRCW. I just thought they were in poor taste. Oh well onward and upward.

Congrats to Mr. Farley the AD for putting on a great pre-game. Senior night was really good, the honorary captains and coach were a nice touch. But the best was having "bottomline" do the national anthem. Food was great too!

Just checked the russell site. Mr. Meadows has some really nice pictures from last nights game. The first 40 to 50 were all pre-game shots which were a nice touch

It's best not to ignore warnings.
