Did Sheldon Clark have any offensive success at all vs. the Belfry defense?

Yes and no....

 

They gained 40+ yards on their first play from scrimmage when they lined up Dials in the slot, ran a reverse with him and he then passed the ball.

 

Dials had 120 odd rushing yards in the first half, and the Cards can officially say they are the first team to score on Belfry's 1st string defense @ full strenght (May, Dotson did not play aaginst Pike Central and two other starters missed most of the game after being injured early).

 

The majority of the Cards success in the first half can be attributed to gutsy play calling by Coach Hager, poor tackling, and hard rnning by Dials.

 

But after having success.... then came the second half and total domination by Belfry's D. The state's leading rusher was held to 6 yards, the Pirate's suck SC receivers like glue and pressured the SC QB, and gang tackled.

 

Hitting on what Watusi said, when Belfry plays focused football with a sense of meaning I have seen noone have any success moving the ball, and no success stopping Belfry. If anyone is going to beat belfry you better do alot of damage in the first half, because once Haywood and his excelelnt staff has a chance to make adjustments and light a fire, this team is lights out.
