I don't mean to judge, but isn't it a bit short-sighted to vote for (or against) someone based on their party affiliation? I believe that it gives weight to my decision, but basing my vote solely on party would be like basing my vote soley on gender, race or religion.

I would prefer to have both.

 

But when I am called on judgement day to speak for my actions, I don't think I will have to answer to God for boosting of the economic growth of Kentucky. But do think I would have to answer to my actions that would lead to the supporting of the killing of unborn babies.

No it wouldn't. A political party has stated beliefs and goals called their platform, and I have never agreed with the democratic stance on issues which are important to me.

I am as one-issue person as there comes on here and most the time that aligns me with Republicans even though I am a registered Democrat. When Ken Lucas ran the first time for Congress, I voted for him because he was pro-life like the Republican candidate and IMO was the better of the two candidates.

Why is he a democrat? Stop giving aid and comfort to those whose party supports abortion rights as a principal of their party's platform. I live in one of the most heavily democratic areas of the state, but when you quiz the folks around here on key issues like abortion, gun control and taxes they sound like Barry Goldwater, but they vote like Ted Kennedy!

So all candidates are mindless robots acting only in the party's interests? (A lot of them are, but...)

How did the democratic party go from representng the interests of small farmers, working people, and general populist types into this amalgam of pro abortionist, left wing liberals bent on socializing our country? I'll tell you. They bought their way to power with useless programs that sap people's initiative and they are still doing it today. 40 million w/o health ins? Well let's give them health insurance! They have bought their way to power and you and I are paying for it.

Spoken like a true democrat

I would like to see another candidate I could truly believe in. I think Fletcher let me down, but don't see Beshear as being much better. I feel like Richard Pryor in 'Brewster's Millions" and would like to start a campaign for NONE OF THE ABOVE! But then again, I am generally distrusting of politicians from either party.

 

 

I agree IMO the citizens of Kentucky deserve better than Beshear or Fletcher!!!

Do you feel that if Beshear is elected that taxes will rise in the near future?

That's what concerns me with any Democrat candidate, especially on the national level.

Fletcher has actually been making a little bit of a comeback on the BGP poll.

Does anyone else remember the movie Brewster's Millions? In it Richard Pryor ran for mayor of New York and campaigned on a platform that neither he nor the other two candidates were qualified. He urged everyone to vote for "none of the above".

 

Since I first registered to vote in 1978 I have not missed voting in any election, I take the right to vote very seriously. That said I can't decide which of these two has earned my vote and I may well write in "none of the above".

 

I believe that Beshear will win and hope that we maintain the Republican control of the Senate other wise I fear our tax burden will go through the roof.

 

While my first vote was cast in the sixties, I have to agree with your comments. I too just might write in "none of the above". While I too think Beshear will win, I am equally unhappy about many of the positions he takes on some issues. Tough year, but I do know that I will be voting again for Trey Grayson for Secretary of State.
